Today, I had the honour of accompanying the Honourable Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, CON, on a working visit to the Headquarters of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) in Abuja.

We were warmly received by the Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive Officer of NAICOM, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin.

The visit provided a valuable platform for constructive engagement on strengthening collaboration between the agricultural and insurance sectors, particularly in advancing agricultural risk management, expanding insurance coverage for farmers, and supporting the Federal Government’s food security objectives.

As a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s agricultural development agenda, the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships that enhance the resilience, productivity, and prosperity of our farmers and agribusinesses nationwide.

Ina matukar farin ciki da jin daɗin yadda sarakunanmu da uwayenmu suka ɗauki wannan mataki na samar da sulhu, haɗin kai da zaman lafiya tsakanin shugabanninmu, domin dakile sharrin masu neman raba kan al'umma tareda hana masu yaɗa fitina tsakanin H.E Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle da Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

Muna Allah wadai da yadda wasu ke amfani da kafafen sada zumunta wajen yaɗa ƙage, ƙarya da kalaman da ka iya haddasa rashin zaman lafiya da rarrabuwar kawuna. Irin waɗannan ayyuka basu da wani amfani ga al'umma; a maimakon haka, suna ƙara haifar da gaba, rashin fahimtar juna da kuma tayar da fitina.

Muna miƙa godiya ta musamman ga sarakunanmu, musamman Mai Martaba Sarkin Zamfara kuma Sarkin Anka, da Mai Martaba Emir na Gummi, da Mai Martaba Emir na Gusau, da Mai Martaba Emir na Kaura Namoda, da Mai Martaba Emir na Bungudu, tareda sauran masu ruwa da tsaki da suka taka muhimmiyar rawa wajen tabbatar da wannan sulhu mai albarka.

Muna roƙon Allah Maɗaukakin Sarki Ya tabbatar da zaman lafiya a Jihar Zamfara da Najeriya baki ɗaya, Ya haɗa kan shugabanninmu, Ya ƙarfafa zumunci da haɗin kai a tsakaninsu, kuma Ya tsare mu daga fitina ta zahiri data ɓoye.

Allah Ya sa wannan sulhu ya kasance mai ɗorewa, Ya cigaba da haɗa kan al'ummarmu.

Praying for the Nation and Our Leaders Is Not Only a Civic Responsibility but Also a Religious Obligation — Minister Matawalle

### HM Matawalle Seeks Sincere Prayers for Continued Peace, Security and Prosperity in Nigeria

As the Nigerian Army commenced activities marking the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. @Bellomatawalle1, MON, has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in offering prayers for the nation and its leaders, emphasizing that such prayers are not only a civic responsibility but also a religious obligation.

The Honourable Minister made the call on Friday while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the Special Jumu’ah Prayer held at the Army Headquarters Garrison Central Mosque, Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

The sermon, delivered under the theme, "Protecting the Nation and Serving the People: A Way Forward for the Nigerian Army," underscored the collective responsibility of all citizens in supporting national security and promoting peace across the country.

According to the Minister, true patriotism goes beyond words or emotions, it is demonstrated through actions that strengthen the nation and safeguard the lives and well-being of its citizens.

Delivering the sermon after the Jumu’ah Prayer led by the Cantonment Chief Imam, the Director, Nigerian Army Directorate of Islamic Affairs, Brigadier General Usman Musa, noted that the prevailing perception that security is solely the responsibility of government must change. He stressed that when communities remain passive while criminals attack and inflict casualties, insecurity inevitably worsens.

He also added that the appropriate approach is for government and the general public to work together against criminal elements, rather than leaving the responsibility to government alone. Citing Maiduguri as a practical example, Brigadier General Musa explained that the city became relatively secure because its people stood firm, rejected the status quo, and collaborated closely with security forces.

According to him, through this collective effort, insurgents were driven out of the city centre and forced into the bush, demonstrating that insecurity can be effectively suppressed when communities cooperate with authorities.

The Special Jumu’ah Prayer was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shu’aibu, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, other senior military officers, members of the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA), among others.
