Ventures for the New Climate Era | Startup studio for technical founders looking to build transformative companies
๐ช๐บ based in Paris, building worldwide
An average startup takes ๐ฏ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ to raise a seed round.
Studio-born companies do it in ๐ญ๐ญ ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต๐.
in hard tech startups, where every year of delay has a physical cost, it makes a difference between a solution that matters and one that arrives too late.
BREAKING NEWS: Antonio (PhD @ETH, @inflectionaward 30u30) joins Marble as a Founder in Residence
he's building an industrial intelligence platform using
Methane produced from cattle makes up 10% of all GHG emissions
BUT
Methane produced by cattle is different from fossil fuel emissions, and should be approached differently.
Ruminant farming has been around for tens of thousands of years, with natural methane sinks previously abounding with the capacity for its recycling.
There is not necessarily an option to switch over to a "cleaner" version in the way you might switch energy sources.
Triple wants to provide tools to reduce that impact. But they want to do that in a way that does not penalise farmers.
๐ณ๐ฑ New Dutch biotech startup Triple Bio is emerging from stealth with โฌ1.5m pre-seed to increase milk yield and reduce enteric methane emissions
โข 500x dose reduction achieved for existing methane inhibitors
โข 97% decrease in methane production
โข 28% increase in volatile fatty acid (VFA) production (great!)
โข 5-10% more milk per cow
Their product can provide a 5x return on investment for the farmers
Let's do the math:
1. A high-yielding dairy cow in Northern Europe produces 30-40 litres of milk a day. Delivering a 5% yield increase represents 2 additional litres per cow per day, which amounts to 1 euro of extra revenue per cow per day at a minimum.
2. Current methane-inhibiting solutions on the market cost farmers the same per cow per day as a litre of milk (โฌ0.45)!
In livestock farming, those types of numbers can deliver a very big impact.
Triple achieves that by nudging the cowโs microbiome to redirect energy away from methane towards milk production, improving digestion and supporting higher yields.
how on earth are people finding co-founders for hardware startups? especially if they're b2b???
so we asked Ilan (ceo) and William (cto) of Quiet Bioenergy:
โข how they knew their co-founder was "the one":
โข what actually makes a great co-founder partnership,
โข how to choose the right partner,
โข how they decided to build a generational company in biogas together
btw our new ventures are actively looking for co-founders and partners in (hopefully not crime):
Co-Founder, CTO, Next-Gen Geothermal (Texas, USA)
Co-Founder, CEO, Battery Manufacturing (Sweden)
Co-Founder, CEO, Iron & Steel (Vancouver, Canada)
apply now, or tag someone who should be leading the next unicorns of Climate Tech ๐ฆ
๐จBREAKING: Bay Area startup introduces flat-rate, single-room heatย pumps installed in less than an hour.
@MerinoEnergy launched Merino Mono: a new HVAC device that's less expensive, faster to install, and can be plugged into a regular 120V outlet (the same thing you plug your phone charger into).
Over 50% of homes in San-Francisco don't have AC units, where the co-founders, Mary-Ann and Brad, happen to be neighbors.
Heat pumps typically require an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, connected by refrigerant lines, to facilitate this process. That goes for whole-home heat pump systems using ductwork as well as "mini-splits," which typically heat and cool a specific room in a house or something like an ADU in the backyard or a converted garage.
Rau and Hall designed the Merino Mono to use that same high-efficiency technology of a mini-split, but without the indoor and outdoor units. Instead, they've pulled the outdoor unit inside and combined it with the indoor unit to create one streamlined device that looks like a modernized, unobtrusive radiator box.
Merino Mono is available for pre-orders, with reservations secured for a $38 deposit.
Marble is proud to have supported the Merino team from day zero by co-building the company and becoming their first check investor. Go Merino!
We have opened two internship positions at Marble for 6-months in Paris.
If you are a college student looking to make your mark on the real world, we encourage you to apply.
Good luck
