Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's last words were "me están matando"—they are killing me.
Under Donald Trump, ICE has become a rogue and abusive agency. ICE is killing people in the streets. Targeting Latinos because of the color of their skin, the language they speak, and the jobs they hold. Locking away innocent children. Colluding with the likes of Governor Abbott to target communities. All to fuel the President's mass deportation for profit machine.
I stand with my colleagues in Congress and with the entire nation in demanding justice, including a transparent investigation and the release of all footage and evidence. I am also demanding ICE provide a full accounting of the men who were locked away after the shooting.
Lorenzo's death is a tragedy. His wife has lost her husband. His sons have lost their father. We cannot allow this to happen again.
If y’all can watch this and laugh, or say something like “well, then come here legally then” you are either are an asshole, a racist, a fascist bootlicker, have no empathy, or a some combination of the four…these people are human beings…just being in the county illegally is NOT a crime, it is a civil violation…entering into the country illegally and not presenting yourself is a federal MISDEMEANOR…neither are punishable by death…
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo should be here with us today.
No family should have to spend the day after their father was killed demanding answers.
ICE must be held accountable. We deserve a full, independent, transparent investigation — now.
My heart is with his family, his loved ones, and the entire community.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was shot on his way to work, was a husband, a father, and a longtime member of our community.
When anyone in Harris County loses their life during an interaction with law enforcement, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office conducts an investigation parallel to the agency leading the investigation. Unfortunately at this time, federal authorities continue exclusively handling all aspects in this case.
Let me be clear: Mr. Salgado Araujo’s family and our community deserve the truth.
I urge anyone with video, photos, or eyewitness accounts regarding Tuesday’s shooting in the 6800 block of Canal Street to come forward.
I have been closely monitoring reports about yesterday’s ICE shooting, and what I’ve seen is alarming. Let me be clear: the targeting of our communities is making us less safe, not more safe.
Texans, and all Americans, deserve full transparency about this shooting, including the release of body camera and dashcam footage, and I join the calls for a transparent investigation that includes state Rangers to begin as quickly as possible.
@BryanDFischer Yeah, but as they finally showed, it was not Croatia touching it. Unfortunately, the call was made before all video angles were available. Again a wrong decision deciding a game based on bad / incomplete information. VAR making the game worse.

@AlexLuck9 Well, that's what we do well... At least send I got into it with F124, K130, F125 (not too meeting lifetime extension for F122, F123) ... We didn't change anything, why would it stop 😔
@CeliaBedelia@potatoslav Compare it to instances in the US where Verizon or T-Mobile went down for hours. The DB is operating a mobile network for "radio" communication with its train from the "control towers". It might have just been a software glitch... or an attack on critical infrastructure.
