After three months away on maternity leave, I'm finally back at work and writing stories that matter. Here's one with a bit of good news: #storiesthatmatter https://t.co/cFS4pOKAcI
I met Sparks Mayor Ron Smith six years ago when I first started working .@RGJ. Back then, I was covering the council. Yesterday, I learned more about him from his family. He was a family man and a prankster who cared about his community. https://t.co/C1grTnaFgK
#BREAKING .@WashoeCoDA has dropped the charges against a man involved in a hit-and-run case. Instead, .@SparksPolice arrested another suspect on charges including open murder. More details here: https://t.co/ipCJPXnAJ0
The footage showed a .@WashoeSheriff deputy fire a Taser and miss. The dart instead hit a .@RenoPolice officer who then 'unintentionally' fired his gun at the driver, shooting him in the shoulder.

The local paper in Alaska included an "empty space" inside the paper to allow people who weren't ready to share their stories to write down their stories and maybe share with their own families.

I think people forget that reporters are humans, too. We see a lot of bad in the world. We deal with tragedy and stress, and that can affect your mindset. There has not been enough of a public conversation among journalists and their own health. #NABJNAHJ20#NABJNAHJTweetUp
#NABJNAHJTweetUp#NABJNAHJ20 I'm glad to see there are so many sessions that cover mental health in journalism. "Do what you need to do to survive." -from a panelist in Reporting in a Socially Distance World.
#NABJNAHJTweetUp#NABJNAHJ20 Listening in on Reporting in a Socially Distant World: Don't be sorry for looking out for your own health and considering your own limitations.
#NABJNAHJTweetUp#NABJNAHJ20 I was inspired by the NABJ session "Love Life and the Lede." They talked about appreciating the people around you, so I sent my hubby some chocolates and cheesecakes to his work as a surprise!
#NABJNAHJ20 Taking a workshop on preemption and how that affects minority communities and people of color. Great quote: "Journalists have the megaphone to enact change."
#BreakingNews Cathy Woods spent 35 years of her life behind bars for a murder she did not commit. Now, she's getting $3M.
