What’s the point of buying your own house in a gated community if you still have to pay that much every month just for maintenance and shared services?

Add electricity at a minimum of KSh 20,000 and water at KSh 15,000, (both supplied by Tatu) and you’re looking at at least KSh 60,000 monthly on these three expenses alone, before food, internet and other bills.

At that rate, wouldn’t it make more financial sense to rent elsewhere and invest your money differently?

There is a Nigerian I have carried from JKIA to Ole Sereni, on our way I asked him if we can use Expressway or normal route, he said I use the route which is faster, so I told him if we use expressway he will have to pay for it because the charges are not included in the Bolt app. Eeeh,the guy shouted, "use normal route because your government already has charged me 45 dollars for insurance, so I don't have money." He went on explaining that that exercise started last week Saturday. He further explained that before coming he had already paid for the insurance while in his own country and again he has been told its a mandatory to take another one here for the Kenyan government. I hear this is a requirement for all foreigners coming to Kenya.

Anyway our President is a very smart guy, he knows how to collect money, like now every foreigners coming to Kenya is required to pay 45 dollars to the government for health insurance which expires after 90 days. One dollar is equal to 130 kenyan shillings so 45 dollars is equal to 5841 Kenyan shillings. Let's say in a day we welcome around 1k foreign visitors, each is required to pay 45 dollars, that's roughly 5.8M in a single day. Very genius!
