The Pentagon is paying an X influencer with your tax dollars — and won't say what she does.
"Data Republican" got handed a leak by an Under Secretary of State, freaked out thinking she was set up, and in the process we found out she's a paid Special Government Employee. Hired in July. By the Pentagon.
They won't disclose her role.
And the real question: how many more blue-check "independent" accounts pushing pro-Trump talking points are on the federal payroll right now?
Ken Paxton: “When somebody tells me a young couple cannot afford a home... I hear you.”
(Ken Paxton owns 15 homes and has been in office for 23 years. Since taking office, his net worth has increased by up to $12,000,000.00.)
Georgia audited its own data center tax breaks and found that the state gave up $474 million in sales taxes in one year—and got back just $41 million from the industry. At least 38 states have deals like this. (It's not clear whether all that money the state waived was needed to attract the construction: in Georgia's case, by the state's own estimate, 70% of the data center construction would have happened anyway.)
They have no one that can beat him… and they are already freaking out about it:
“This corruption is why nothing works for ordinary people. It’s why you pay a fortune for prescriptions. It’s why your insurance company gets away with denying your cancer treatment. It’s why we are promised progress and we get more of the same.
So many broken promises. We were promised tax cuts for the rich would grow the middle class. We were promised Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. We were promised fairness when banks were bailed out while millions lost their homes. Do you remember that…
Trump promised to attack a broken system. I get it. Ripe target. Yes the system is really rigged, but he’s not unrigging it. He’s re-rigging it for himself.”
COACH SULLY: “I was a Republican longer than I’ve been a Democrat — today I want to show you why I changed… Republicans have been terrible on jobs, weak on the market, racked up debt, and in office for every recession… that’s why they change the subject.”

Maybe we could end the trade war by exchanging heads of government with Canada? Under President Carney, we'd get health care, sound economic management, safe gun policies, an end to forever wars and some calm in Washington.
If you can't end the war you started, if you can't bring down rising gas and diesel prices, if you don't know what to do about Ukraine, Gaza or A.I., if you can't even fix a reflecting pool, if your ugly bullying of Canada backfires -- then pretend to change the name of a lake.
Gaza has the highest concentration of child amputees in the world (at the peak of Israeli bombing, 10 kids were losing limbs daily), UNRWA says. And now Israel is now blocking prosthetic limbs from entering Gaza. All this has happened with US support or complicity.
MS NOW: "The Talarico campaign is filing a legal motion to unseal two depositions Ken Paxton gave in 2019 and 2022. A source tells MS NOW the Talarico campaign has reason to believe Paxton admitted to crimes in those depositions."
I'm running for LBJ's Senate seat.
Like me, Lyndon Johnson was a Texas teacher. In office, he made the largest federal investment in America’s students this country has ever seen.
When we win back LBJ’s seat, we can pass an LBJ-sized investment in America’s public schools.
NEW: @JamesTalarico unveils his plan to break up Big Medicine — endorsed by @mcuban.
Talarico and Cuban will appear together in Fort Worth on Saturday for a live conversation moderated by Jessica Tarlov.
The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.
What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis. 🦋
I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things. 💖 @dollyparton
The American Federation of Musicians, the major labor union representing professional musicians in North America, is paying tribute to Dolly Parton, who was a member of its Nashville Local 257 for 58 years.
AFM says that for decades, Dolly consistently filed union contracts for her recording sessions, live gigs and tours.
That meant the musicians working for her were not simply being handed a check as hired players…their work was formally covered under union agreements that can require negotiated minimum pay, pension contributions, benefits and other workplace protections.
The union says Dolly “set the gold standard” for supporting the musicians behind her and “elevated our entire profession.”
