SpaceXAI will officially launch its new Grok 4.5 AI model on July 9, 2026, for public access. Elon Musk confirmed the release on social media, noting that the decision follows highly positive feedback from private beta testing at SpaceX and Tesla.

The model is built on xAI’s new V9 foundation architecture and features 1.5 trillion parameters. It incorporated specialized Cursor data during training to enhance coding performance. Musk claims Grok 4.5 matches or exceeds the capabilities of leading frontier systems like Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8.

Internal evaluations indicate the system operates at significantly faster speeds, higher token efficiency, and lower operating costs than competitors.

This release is the first major milestone since xAI was folded into SpaceX and rebranded as SpaceXAI earlier this year, following the massive $60 billion acquisition of the programming tool company Cursor.

The public launch sets up an immediate competitive showdown. It coincides with OpenAI’s broad public release of its GPT-5.6 family, also scheduled for July 9. Both models are expected to be tested immediately on public evaluation boards.
