I’m curious how the axe would have been hafted since there doesn’t appear to be a traditional “socket” like metal ones of this type. It would have to have been fitted into the haft rather than the other way around.
Also here’s the axe head made out of whalebone from Sandnes in the western settlement. I always thought this would be a cool experimental archaeology project to make one and see if you could split anything with it.

It was framed like the nightly news but in the Middle Ages. Anyone in school in the 90s remember this? It features “Ring around the Rosie”, “pepper hides rotting meat”, etc. All the hits, really.
I remember a series of educational films about the Middle Ages - I think called “The Way It Was” - that was essentially a collection of every bogus trivia point I’ve ever heard. We watched it in high school.
