thinking about how Nolan’s movies all are about how the most tragic thing in the universe is the act of losing precious time to be with the people you love and getting genuinely emotional
do it for you, do it for the times u were scared and unsure, do it for all the past versions of yourself that wished for more, do it for future you that’ll look back knowing it was worth it
women get about the same amount of degrees in history as men & dominate anthropology degrees. genders read history as a hobby at similar rates. while the types of history books read are slightly different. men think they're history buffs & women aren't is bc men are just louder
The Odyssey really said “You think the Trojan war was the birth of western civilization? Fine, yeah it was, but that means the birth of western civilization was built on deceit, the genocidal sacking of a city, the desecration of the gods, and the end of common hospitality”
Christopher Nolan just made an insanely good anti-war epic at a time when the fragmented parts of the world are at war. That too, using the greatest war story ever told. Turning into a reflection on masculinity, conflict, and the price they demand. THE ODYSSEY IS PEAK CINEMA 🛐
Watching The Odyssey, especially in the wake of Oppenheimer, it’s clear Nolan fears that civilisation is collapsing, that our hubris is inviting a new dark age, that the world we’re passing on to our children will be bleaker & more brutal than the world into which we were born.
O fato de que tanto Oppenheimer quanto A Odisseia serem filmes sobre homens arrependidos com o mal que eles soltaram no mundo é prova que o Nolan se arrepende de ter revivido a onda de filme de super herói
