🗣️Luis Enrique: I lost a great deal of respect for Lionel Messi and the Argentina team after what I saw following the World Cup final. While Spain celebrated a well-earned victory, most of the Argentine players turned their backs instead of acknowledging the new champions. The one exception, José Manuel “Flaco” López, showed the kind of respect and sportsmanship that deserves recognition.
I still can’t hide my disappointment over what happened after Spain lifted the trophy. Moments like these should bring the football world together, regardless of the result. Winning and losing are both part of the game, and true champions show class not only in victory but also in defeat.
Spain earned the World Cup on the pitch, and the least their opponents could have done was stay, applaud the champions, and respect their moment. Walking away or refusing to acknowledge the winners sends the wrong message to millions of young football fans who look up to these players.
Experiences like this are one of the reasons I personally hold Cristiano Ronaldo in higher regard. In my view, he has consistently shown respect for opponents and has demonstrated a strong competitive mentality throughout his career. Respect for the winners should never be optional, no matter how painful the defeat.

France and PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé was asked in a recent interview whether he felt sorry for Lionel Messi following Argentina’s defeat in the World Cup final
“I respect Messi,” Dembélé began carefully, “but to be honest, I don’t feel sorry for him. It’s karma and he deserves it. Spain saved football.”
Dembele continued without hesitation:
“They played dirty back in 2022, they called most black players in the French team donkeys and they were not penalized for it. They deserve the loss for the dishonesty and cheating during matches.”
Dembélé added: “Messi is a legend, no doubt. But football should be about merit, not myths and shortcuts. Spain showed the right way.”
🗣️ Marc Cucurella:
“Before the World Cup final, I’d never played against Messi, so when people described him as humble, I used to believe it. But after playing against him in the World Cup final, I saw a completely different person from the one people always described Lionel Messi to be.
When he tried to report me to the referee, I told him I hadn’t said anything bad. I didn’t cover my mouth, I only slightly touched it. But he knew the referee had been following his lead since the group stage because many people had complained about the special treatment he was receiving. So he tried to report me in the hope of getting me sent off, even though I never covered my mouth in the first place.
He’s a player who loves it when decisions go in his favour but gets angry when things don’t go as he planned. They tried to rob us in the first half because Argentina were being favoured, but fortunately, in the second half, we didn’t even let them keep possession for five seconds.
My preference has always been Ronaldo. His discipline, openness, and the fact that he never hides his personality from the media are what I admire most. That’s why Ronaldo will always be my favourite.”
🚨🎙️ Cristiano Ronaldo on Spain :
“If you see the way Spain plays, every player knows his role. This is why they win, it's not a coincidence that they beat every team. They deserve it. They work as a team, and the big teams are the ones where the players clearly know their roles.” 🇪🇸🔙

Make Spain Great Again
"Hacer España Grande Otra Vez".
Valiente
🇺🇸 Football. What a wonderful reminder of the power of this game to show us the value of teamwork, the strength that comes from standing together, and the confidence that grows when you truly believe in what you’re capable of.
What a beautiful lesson lies behind this match, and in the way our players have conducted themselves.
I look forward to the final with the quiet smile of someone who feels proud of who they are, and grateful for the feeling of not standing alone. Congratulations, Spain! 🇪🇸
