One of the most moving moments today at Paisley Abbey. The Papal Nuncio and priests ended the visit by asking to sing the Salve Regina as the Monks would have done each day to end compline. Perhaps the first time this was sung there since the Reformation.

On this day in 1881: Scientist Alexander Fleming was born near Darvel in Ayrshire. In 1928, he returned from holiday to find that a fungus had killed some bacteria on his manky lab dishes. He had actually just discovered the world's first antibiotic, which he named Penicillin.

The most common symptoms of stroke can be identified using the FAST test:

* Facial weakness
* Arm weakness
* Speech problems
* Time to call 999

If you suspect that you or someone else is having a stroke, dial 999 straight away.
