This here hits home. This is how my life almost ended many many years ago. I was turning left off the highway into a field with a 1755 cockshutt pulling JD 535. Flasher, but no mirrors, did the old weave to look through the belts and from what I could see it was clear for miles. What I didn't know was a bobtailing KW doing about a buck 20 had already pulled out to pass me.. I turned right into the side of him, hit his fuel tank, tore both his right drives off, shot him into the ditch sideways.. he wiped out about 30 fence posts before he got stopped. As for me in the cockshutt, it took that wheatland axle and bent it in a U shape forward and sheared the hub off and spun me around on the highway all in the blink of an eye. Was shaking so bad I could hardly pull the fuel stop, but I walked away... Once the cops came and we were discussing what happened. I asked the officer who's fault and all he said "there is no fault, if you turned one or 2 seconds earlier or he was 1 or 2 seconds later we wouldn't be having this conversation".. it was at that point reality set in.. I will never forget that day.. or sell that tractor.. and since that day I still triple check when I'm turning left and approach farm equipment cautiously..
