Periodontitis is not linked to genetic! https://t.co/2cKHHv88fv Are dentists forgetting about periodontal parasites? Or dentists are lyers, or ignorants or both?

Observational studies show that patients with periodontitis have a 5 to 70% increased risk (depending on studies and severity) of developing Alzheimer's or dementia, and that periodontal treatment (scaling, maintenance) is associated with a reduced risk or a slowdown in brain atrophy related to Alzheimer's.
In summary: If we managed to "cure" or systematically prevent periodontitis (through hygiene, treatment and maintenance), we could reasonably expect a decrease of the order of 5 to 10% (or more in risk subgroups) in cases of Alzheimer's disease/dementia, assuming a partial causal contribution. This would be a major impact on the population, because periodontitis is very common (especially after 50-60 years) and modifiable at low cost.
