In a new report: National Dpt of Sci_&_Innovation asked us for 5 @saprin_mrc achievements. We said: Implementation of a core protocol, two data releases, StatsSA MoU, two new urban nodes, & addition of a Covid19 surveillance module. Interesting progression
SA is preparing for the @ICPD25 Nairobi Summit. There is a stakeholder consultation this afternoon. I am going to raise the value of HDSS data for evaluating national statistics & reporting labour migration as a subset of migration flows. Text me if you want me to raise an issue.
@StatsSA#population Preparing for Nairobi Summit ICPD25, we have Diego giving us national mid-year population estimates. Crucial data. I look forward to SAPRIN @saprin_mrc contributing, especially in validation and finesse of migration dynamics.
Kobus will present SAPRIN's potential contribution @saprin_mrc at the Nairobi Summit. MoUs with StatsSA, Dept. Social Development and Dept Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, will be important in attaining this.
I am representing @saprin_mrc at a South-South Collaboration workshop which is a burst of energy preparing for the Nairobi Summit #ICPD25. Key is the data ecosystem, including evaluation of national indicators.
@saprin_mrc@WeAllCount2@As As the population ages in South Africa it is vital to remember the dual relationship between health and income; and develop social policies that contribute to healthy ageing and protect the economic well-being of households. https://t.co/pnOiT7kEK9
@saprin_mrc Welcome to the new SAPRIN Twitter handle. We are building a national research infrastructure in health, social, and economic status, to be a scientific research platform and part of SA striving to develop and overcome inherited inequalities.
Today is Wits School of Public Health Lekgotla. My SAPRIN input: the nature of national research infrastructures = accessibility, harmonised data, and being national. Associated training at universities = multicentre event history analysis and triangulation with national data.
We will set up a formal SAPRIN Twitter account, vetted and official, and then Kobus and I can independently add comments/reflections. SAPRIN requires establishing a great HDSS standard model, which is interesting. Residence and migration surveillance on our minds at the moment.
@PhBocquier @INDEPTHNetwork@Stata Thanks for this useful publication. We will use it in SAPRIN, South Africa, to produce routine indicators. {#SAPRIN }
