On Saturday February 5, locals will protest the arrival of @CelebrityCruise Constellation, scheduled to arrive at 11:30.
Come down to Mallory Square, or bring your boat.
Celebrity has a chance to cancel, we hope they do.
We are standing up for our vote, our reef, and our town.
Tomorrow! A rally to demand action on cruise ship pollution in #RedHook! The City must fix the system, make it usable for every ship visiting Brooklyn, and, as per @alexaforcouncil’s proposal, EVERY ship must plug in EVERY time! For 17 years Red Hook has been fighting for this!
Ughhhh "On July 20th, CRF™ teams visited Sombrero Reef, a restoration site we've been working at for over a decade. What we found was unimaginable - 100% coral mortality. We have also lost almost all the corals in the Looe Key Nursery in the Lower Keys.” https://t.co/vNDn0dk1tW
The citizens are suing Bar Harbor for not obeying our ban on booking anymore cruise ship passengers from mobbing our land base tourist destination. It has been decided by a 58-42% margin to limit the number of passengers to 1000 per day.
But our TC continues to sign up more.
What does restorative and regenerative tourism look like? That’s what an experienced group of panelists came to talk about over the weekend in Key West. The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation’s Blue Beacon series drew Julie Heizer from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Thank you @NatlParkService for inviting me to be part of your @CherryBlossFest Parade team! I marched in this parade as a Key West High School sophomore in 1983. 40 years later, it was great be among young people from all over the US celebrating cherry blossoms!

@BillPrecht You're giving off "for sure the smartest guy in any room" vibes here.
There are no doubts you're a respected and qualified scientist, one of the top in your field. But you take money from developers to say what they pay you to say. Some folks know enough to challenge that.
@cfax1070@Adam_Stirling@BruceAlready Sad to hear a host ask such softball questions, especially when the answers are so skewed.
Gonna need to see those economic impact studies, Bruce. Are they provided by @CLIAGlobal by chance?
Also, these midnight bike rides all over town to sprinkle the $$ around are not a thing.
UPDATE: This bill just advanced in the FL Senate Rules Committee. The sponsor, @NickDiCeglie, claimed a late-filed amendment resolved all Everglades concerns. It doesn't resolve ours.
Undercutting citizens' ability to challenge harmful growth is bad for water and wetlands.

“Tourism infrastructure absolutely relies on reefs. The more the tourism industry sees the critical importance of reefs to maintaining their businesses, the more we’ll be able to engage together and the more impactful conservation work will be.”
