Really can't believe I'm doing this. Leaving the comfort of quietly building things behind, and actually talking about the journey - the wins and the lessons learnt, all of it.
Starting today!
The AI tooling space right now feels like the early app store days.
Thousands of things launching weekly, most of them wrappers, a handful that’ll actually still be around in two years.
The difference is nobody knows yet which handful. Including the people building them.
@ItsAileen_Wu so underrated. Half the churn people blame on product is really just bad qualification upstream.
Also cheaper to lose someone in 10 seconds than in a 3 week trial and a support ticket queue.
Genuine question -
By the end of this year, would you be more worried if your dev was burning way more credits than expected, or way fewer?
More could mean they're shipping a lot. Or prompt-and-praying through problems they don't actually understand.
Fewer could mean they're efficient. Or they've quietly stopped using the tools you're paying for.
Neither number really tells you anything on its own.
What's your take on this?
Three years of running this thing has quietly turned me into about six different people.
Business developer. AI consultant. Product builder. Growth guy. The one who does the finances at 11pm because nobody else will.
But the one that actually mattered most - learning to stay calm when things go sideways.
Now it’s just another day.
The thing nobody warns you about running an agency is how much of the job is just absorbing other people’s uncertainty.
Client doesn’t know what they want. Team needs a decision. You don’t fully know either, but you pick something anyway.
That’s most days.
Founders running client work + building your own product at the same time -
what’s actually eating more of your week right now, the clients or the product?
Hopping on this train - looking to connect with people building cool stuff who are stuck on the "now what" part - you've built it, but no one knows it exists yet.
If you're a:
founder
SaaS builder
indie hacker
building an AI product
and figuring out GTM, distribution, or just getting your first users - drop a comment, tell me what you're building, let's connect.
Unpopular opinion maybe - most “AI-first” startups right now aren’t actually AI-first. They’re regular products with a chatbot bolted onto the side to justify the pitch deck.
AI-first means the product falls apart without the AI. Not “works fine either way”
Big difference imo🤷
