Around the world, politicians are forced by the electorate to focus on development. But the establishment answers to no one. So the short-term thinking continues.

@asadnizami88 @aliaftabsaeed Is it really a bad thing. A contrarian view to the whole affair is that people in authority have used rent seeking in time of conflict. Afghan war, war terror… And now another conflict has come. They are now busy signing deals to get out of loan payments and bolster arms supply.
