@kkfla737 Just another example of MLS having to be different than any other major league in the world. Instead of getting closer to how soccer is around the world they just continue to the beat of the own drum. Perfect reason why many do not take the league seriously.

I get a lot of fans of MLS teams & people who work in MLS don’t think this is a big deal.

But for those of us who’ve toiled, either working in the lower divisions, or covering the lower divisions ( in my case both), I can’t quantify how disrespected I feel
for everything I and those around me put into this game domestically the last 20 years or so.

Think about how mid major colleges are treated in college sports. Think about what happened to Florida State just two weeks ago in terms of college football. That’s now soccer in America permanently.

Think about the elitism involved in saying we’re too good for a tournament that promotes grassroots soccer and is an open competition.

MLS decision flies in the face of everything this game stands for . This is an OPEN game. This game is about building community and teams- it’s about competition. It’s about rivalries. It’s about relationships.

MLS has just said none of that matters to us unless it’s on our terms.

Well, Lamar Hunt should be rolling in his grave...and every other American soccer leader who has worked to grow the game & this great tournament. Fans can help stop this w/their wallet. Boycott MLS until they return to the best and oldest tournament in American soccer. RT please.
