When Andy Burnham commissioned a review into child exploitation in Oldham, he promised transparency and accountability. What emerged instead was a masterclass in bureaucratic misdirection.

The man who commissioned that review walked into Downing Street on Monday as Prime Minister. Oldham sits in the first tranche of the national statutory inquiry, and the question of what Andy Burnham knew, and when he knew it, has followed him through the door of Number 10.

I watched Elon Musk’s interview with The Economist and heard him claim 250,000 girls were systematically raped by grooming gangs in the UK. It sounded too monstrous to be real, so I did what I always do. I went to check the receipts myself.

I wish I hadn’t. It is worse than the number.

A warning first. If this kind of thing enrages you, if you have children, if you do not have the stomach for it today, stop reading here. You do not have to carry it.

Honesty first, because I do not post numbers I cannot defend. The 250,000 figure is not a documented count. It is an extrapolation scaled up from local cases. Here is the hard truth though: it might be accurate, and it might even be low. Nobody can say, because there has never been a full national audit or an investigation of every town. The number is unproven precisely because the country has refused to go looking for it. That refusal is its own answer.

Here is what the government’s investigations did find. The 2014 Jay Report: in Rotherham alone, at least 1,400 children sexually exploited over sixteen years, and that was the conservative estimate. Baroness Casey’s 2025 national audit confirmed the same pattern across Rochdale, Oxford, Oldham, Telford. Nearly 19,000 children flagged as exploitation victims in England in a single year. The Met is re-examining 9,000 cases. No one knows the true total, because for decades the people paid to count deliberately did not.

Both reports found the convicted offenders in these networks were Pakistani Muslim men. And officials avoided recording that fact out of fear of being called racist. Let that land. They stayed silent about who was doing it because they feared an accusation more than they feared the abuse. Girls as young as eleven were written off as troubled teenagers making lifestyle choices. The system did not fail to see it. It chose not to look.

Then the punishment. Some got what Britain calls serious sentences. Shabir Ahmed, the Rochdale ringleader, 22 years for 30 counts of child rape. Others 35. In much of America a single count could mean life. There, 30 counts draws 22 years, and then they let you out early.

Ahmed served 14 years and walked free this July, shielded from the deportation his victims were promised by a 1971 immigration loophole. Several offenders held dual British-Pakistani citizenship, which is exactly why removal was promised and exactly why the failure to deliver it is so damning. Qari Abdul Rauf served two and a half years of six and is still in Rochdale, seen shopping in the town where he abused children. Adil Khan, who impregnated a 13-year-old, called his case racist and a laughing matter in court and argued he should stay because his son needs a role model.

And the coldest part. For years the trouble was not the abuse. It was talking about it. Britain’s speech laws have only tightened since, with people jailed over social media posts, one woman handed 31 months for a single tweet. A nation that struggled for a decade to jail child rapists moves overnight to jail citizens for the wrong words online.

That is the whole sickness. Rape a child and you may serve half a soft sentence and stroll home. Post the wrong thing about it and the state finds its spine.

So make the sentences serious and mean it. Deport who can be deported. Protect the people exposing this, not the institutions that buried it. And count them. Every town, every case, no matter what the number turns out to be.

Failed by their abusers, the councils, the police, the courts, and a state more offended by a tweet than by their suffering. Every betrayal preventable.

These are children. Say it out loud, whatever it costs, because the silence is what let it happen.

Thank you, Elon, for the reminder that when something sounds too awful to be true, the only responsible thing is to go check the receipts yourself. The number was unproven. What sat underneath it was worse. 🦋

HARRIET HARMAN: THE MOTHER OF ALL HYPOCRISY

Let me tell you about Harriet Ruth Harman, the woman who spent forty years lecturing Britain about equality, feminism, and progressive values while her entire career is built on a foundation so rotten it would make Jimmy Savile's PR team blush.

THE PAEDOPHILE PROTECTION RACKET (1978 to 1982)

This is where Harman's house of cards collapses. While working as legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL), Harman was on the payroll when the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), a vile organisation campaigning to legalise sex with children, was an affiliated member. But it gets worse. Much worse.

In 1978, Harman signed her name to an NCCL briefing paper on the Protection of Children Bill that sought to BAN child pornography. Her contribution? She argued that "images of naked children should only be considered pornographic if it could be proven that the subject had suffered."

Read that again. Harriet Harman, the woman who now advises Starmer on women and girls, wanted to make it LEGAL to possess child abuse images unless prosecutors could prove the child victim suffered. She tried to water down child protection laws to protect paedophiles' civil liberties.

When exposed in 2014, she expressed "regret" but refused to apologise. Because in Harriet's world, saying sorry for helping paedophiles might damage the brand. Her husband Jack Dromey and Patricia Hewitt were right there with her; three senior Labour figures, all neck-deep in the NCCL/PIE swamp.

THE HOLOCAUST JOKE (2017)

Fast forward to 2017. BBC's This Week. Harman decides to tell an ANTISEMITIC HOLOCAUST JOKE live on television. Not a slip. Not a misstatement. She deliberately recounted this vile joke to make a point about "offensive humour."

Andrew Neil, a man who had just spoken at the Holocaust Education Trust about fighting antisemitism, was so disgusted he turned his back on her and told her to "BE QUIET."

The Jewish Leadership Council's Simon Johnson said: "I cannot recall being so disappointed in a politician." This was 2017, while Labour was already drowning in antisemitism scandals under Corbyn, and Harman thought broadcasting Holocaust jokes was appropriate.

THE PRIVILEGED ELITE MASK SLIPS

Here is the punchline: Harriet Harman, champion of the working class, scourge of privilege, was born into a family so posh it makes the Royal Family look like council estate roughs.

- Father: John Bishop Harman, Harley Street physician (private practice for the wealthy)
- Grandfather: Nathaniel Bishop Harman, surgeon and prominent Unitarian elitist
- Uncle: LORD LONGFORD, the Labour peer who became obsessed with child killer Myra Hindley and campaigned for her release
- Cousins: Related to NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN (Prime Minister) and Austen Chamberlain (Foreign Secretary)
- Education: St Paul's Girls' School, one of Britain's most elite private schools

She is not just posh. She is aristocracy-adjacent. The "Mother of the House" is the product of exactly the establishment privilege she pretends to oppose.

"GINGER RODENT": THE EQUALITIES MINISTER WHO HATES MINORITIES

As Labour's Equalities Minister, Harman called Lib Dem minister Danny Alexander a "GINGER RODENT" at the Scottish Labour conference. This was not private banter. This was a senior minister attacking someone for their hair colour, in Scotland, where red hair is common.

Ed Miliband forced her to apologise. But the mask had slipped. Harriet Harman, guardian of minority rights, thinks it is acceptable to dehumanise people based on physical characteristics when it suits her.

THE PINK "BARBIE BUS": PATRONISING WOMEN SINCE 2015

In 2015, Harman launched Labour's "Woman to Woman" campaign: a PINK MINIBUS touring the country to attract female voters. It was universally condemned as "sexist," "patronising," and "demeaning," a "Barbie Bus" treating women like children who need pink packaging to engage with politics.

Tory MP Caroline Dinenage called it "as patronising as it gets." Mumsnet users, actual women, branded it "sexist codswallop." But Harriet knew best. Because nothing says "female empowerment" like assuming women are too stupid to care about politics unless it is wrapped in pink plastic.

THE HUSBAND PLOT: NEPOTISM AND CORRUPTION

While we are on hypocrisy, let us talk about Jack Dromey. In 2009, Labour insiders branded Dromey "lazy and stupid" during a donations scandal. But that did not stop Harriet allegedly missing a key meeting to pave the way for her husband to inherit a safe Labour seat after the sitting MP quit over, wait for it, EXPENSES SCANDALS.

THE LORD LONGFORD CONNECTION

Remember Harriet's uncle, Lord Longford? While Harriet was at NCCL trying to water down child porn laws, her uncle was campaigning to FREE MYRA HINDLEY, the paedophile child killer. The family obsession with protecting paedophiles and child murderers runs deep.

THE VERDICT

Harriet Harman is not a feminist icon. She is not a progressive champion. She is a PRIVILEGED HYPOCRITE who:

- Tried to legalise child abuse images
- Told Holocaust jokes on live TV
- Dehumanised gingers while Equalities Minister
- Patronised women with pink buses
- Plotted seats for her "lazy and stupid" husband
- Hides her aristocratic background while attacking privilege

She advised Starmer on women and girls in 2026. Let that sink in. The woman who signed papers protecting paedophiles, who told Holocaust jokes, who thinks women need pink packaging to understand politics, is advising the Labour leader on protecting women and girls.

Career ending? This should be legacy destroying. Harriet Harman belongs in the dustbin of political history, not the House of Lords.

The same woman who spent decades demanding women be heard in politics is now cheering on a backroom email that treats elected representatives like corporate employees to be managed by HR. The hypocrisy never ends with Harman.

Introducing Backdoor Bougatef. Oldham Council's Solicitor

On 30 August 2023, a letter from Browne Jacobson LLP arrived at my home. Oldham Council had instructed the firm to threaten me with an injunction under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. The harassment alleged was my campaigning. The letter counted my work for the court. Two hundred and forty two videos, a seven part blog, years of reporting on what was done to this borough's children. All of it the council found caused harassment.

Oldham Council demanded I stop saying that its people were involved in covering up the grooming and gang rape of children and identifying Pakistani men as the main culprits..

The letter called the allegation baseless and gave me until 4pm on 13 September to submit, warning that if an injunction were granted and breached I could face criminal prosecution. It even refused mediation in advance, on the grounds that my behaviour made talking pointless. A public body spent public money asking a court to make my campaigning a crime.

The man who confirmed instructing that firm, in his own email of 14 September 2023, was Alexander Bougatef. He copied his confirmation to every councillor in Oldham so the audience could watch. No one should be surprised how he has been rapidly promoted since.

I wrote back, mocked them for finding offence in the term 'samosa nibbler' and kept campaigning.

Three years later, a national statutory inquiry is weeks from arriving in Oldham to examine the institution whose conduct I was ordered to stop describing. The description survived. The injunction failed.

Bougatef is now the man who is threatening Reform councillors because they refuse to vote in a Labour leader or a Pakistani sectarian group to take control of the town. The official bullying elected councillors on what he believes are their legal duties is the same official who tried to obtain a court order against me.

Which is why, when the National Inquiry comes to Oldham, both Alexander Bougatef and his legal team from Browne Jacobson LLP must be called to testify and explain their actions.

Once Burnham is in Downing Street, the pressure to protect him will be immense. The institutions that failed these girls will try everything possible not to hold a PM accountable. Much of the press will look away, as always. This is why it is up to us to carry the truth.

Which is why I'm turning this community of readers into something more than what I can manage on my own. We need to grow.
