Good afternoon, 4 days ago, the Conservative Party of British Columbia announced its next leader in a hotly contested leadership race.
Seasoned former MP for South Surrey-White Rock Kerry-Lynne Findlay beat out 4 other candidates after a strong performance in Round 1.
Elliott lost by 181 points but Black missed on the final round by only 116 points.
The efficiency of Black's votes almost allowed him to overcome a 800+ deficits in votes
Another way to look at it: in the the 3rd round, Black had only 29% of the votes and Elliott 33%, but in points it was 30% versus 31%...
Thats a wrap - voting has closed! This campaign began on Thursday, January 15, with a room full of hope, energy, and belief in a better future for British Columbia.
Since then, I have had the incredible privilege of travelling across our province, meeting members in every region, and hearing the same powerful message: people are ready for change.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the incredible members of our party and to everyone who took the time to vote. Your participation, encouragement, and belief in this campaign mean more to me than I can say.
The results will be announced tomorrow night.
Together, let’s get BC Back on Track.
What a day!
Voting officially opened this morning at 8:00 am and runs until May 29 at 8:00 am - and the energy across this campaign has been incredible.
A huge thank you to my amazing team, our tremendous members, my campaign co-chairs, and all of the fantastic people who have endorsed me along the way. This campaign has been powered by people who believe BC can do better - and that we can WIN.
My Five-Point Premier’s Plan - including a 20% personal income tax cut - has landed with people across the province because it is bold, clear, and focused on getting BC’s economy moving again.
Now it’s go time.
Please check your email, find your ballot, and vote. I would be truly grateful for your #1 spot on the ballot and your consideration for #2.
Having trouble voting or have a question? Email [email protected] - my team is watching every message and ready to help.

It’s time to defeat the NDP and take back our province.
But first, we have a choice to make in this leadership race.
Do we want to take a RISK?
Or do we want someone who is READY?
This race is about "risk versus ready" - and I am READY.
Experience matters. I am ready to lead this party. Ready to unite our caucus. Ready to present a BOLD Five-Point Premier’s Plan that includes a 20% personal income tax cut to put more money back in YOUR pocket.
Most importantly, I am ready to WIN.
Voting opens Saturday morning. I am asking for your #1 spot on the ballot - and I would be grateful for your consideration as your #2 choice.
Together, we will get BC back on track. https://t.co/uiQHESGvVr
Thank you to MLA Tony Luck for your endorsement and for joining me tonight in Merritt.
What a great evening. We spent time helping people get verified to vote, answering thoughtful questions, and having honest conversations about the future of British Columbia and my Five-Point Premier’s Plan. I truly appreciated the energy in the room and the willingness of people to engage on the issues facing our province.
I continue to believe that B.C. can be prosperous, hopeful, and confident again with the right leadership. Experience matters. Solutions matter.
Most importantly, please make sure you are verified to vote before May 20th. For more information on my Five-Point Premier’s Plan, voter verification, joining the team, or making a donation, please visit https://t.co/uiQHESGvVr
Let’s get B.C. back on track.
I enjoyed the conversations I’ve had with members across Northern B.C. and the Interior over the past several days. It has been inspiring to meet so many passionate conservatives as we helped people get verified to vote and discussed my Five-Point Premier’s Plan - including my commitment to a 20% personal income tax cut for British Columbians.
A special thank you to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour in Merritt for the warm welcome and hospitality.
Experience matters at this time. I am the only candidate in this race with both corporate and government leadership experience as a former Cabinet minister and CEO - someone who can unite the party, defeat the NDP, and help restore hope, confidence, and prosperity across British Columbia.
Please make sure you get verified to vote. And when the time comes, I would be grateful for your #1 support on the ballot and appreciative of your consideration for your #2 as well.
Together we will get B.C. back on track - and let’s end on a high note!

A Real Conservative plan.
I showed up tonight - and I delivered.
Not just words.
Not just attacks.
A real plan.
Tonight, I released my Premier’s Plan: A Bold Conservative Plan to Get BC Back on Track — a serious, fully developed roadmap to fix what the NDP has broken and restore opportunity, safety, and common sense across our province.
Because after nine years, British Columbia is off track.
And it’s going to take real leadership to fix it.
Here’s what I laid out:
1. 20% Income Tax Cut
We will cut income taxes by 20% — full stop.
That means more money in your pocket, real affordability for families, and a powerful signal to investors that BC is open for business again. We will attract jobs, grow our economy, and restore financial freedom.
2. Faster Access to Better Healthcare
The current system is failing people.
We will partner with private providers to build infrastructure faster and deliver care sooner — while protecting the public, single-payer model.
No one pays out of pocket. Period.
But you will get care when you need it.
3. Clear Timelines. Get BC Building Again
We are done waiting.
We will repeal DRIPA, cut red tape, and enforce firm timelines — 120 days for approvals, 720 days for consultation.
No more endless delays.
We will unlock our natural resources, attract investment, and create jobs — in every corner of this province.
4. Restore Public Safety
Our streets are not safe — and people are fed up.
We will crack down on gangs, extortion, and drug dealers.
We will increase prosecution capacity, push for deportation of non-citizen criminals, and take back our communities.
We will also act on addiction and brain injury — including involuntary care — because leaving people to suffer on the streets is not compassion. It’s failure.
5. Restore the Social Balance
We will bring back common sense.
Focus schools on reading, writing, math, and skills for the future.
Return decision-making to parents.
End ideological distractions and restore a system based on merit, fairness, and equality.

Entry Fees PAID IN FULL - Moments ago, my Financial Agent dropped a cheque for $60k dated April 15, 2026. I am looking forward to meeting all of our members - old and new - as I travel the province over the next 6 1/2 weeks. Deadline for new members is April 18th at 5:00pm. Thanks to all my supporters and the many members who are taking action in this leadership election.
I just got off the Mike Smyth show and I’m going to say it straight.
The https://t.co/9fNNmSUuXO website and the smear mailer that went out in the final weeks of the 2024 election? Elections BC just confirmed it was BC United behind it and fined them $4,500.
When it first appeared I figured it had to be the NDP. Never in a million years did I think it was coming from the leadership of BC United. But it was.
This wasn’t some rogue operation. This was a straight-up failure of leadership at the top. Kevin Falcon was the leader. Caroline Elliott was the vice-president for some time and his sister-in-law. Both of them now say they knew nothing about it. Mark Werner, their campaign manager, says the same.
Come on. I’ve run campaigns. You don’t spend that kind of money on a slick, professional hit job without the leader and the senior team knowing exactly what’s going on. Saying “I knew nothing” is simply not credible.
We lost the chance to form government by just three seats, some ridings by 22 votes. This kind of thing matters.
The BC Conservative Party has to be better than this. We need real leadership and real accountability, not excuses from people who let this happen on their watch.
That’s what I told Mike. That’s what I believe.
