Now’s this is a heck of a weather map for the coming week. This is showing the temperature anomaly, or the deviation from average.

It’s very easy to see that the west will once again be warmer than average and the east/north will be cooler than average. What’s most eye-catching is that spiral, which is actually caused by a strong low pressure system which may develop rapidly midweek.

I’ll be watching that system for heavy rain/strong gusts but southwestern Europe will be taking the brunt of continued dry/hot weather.

The latest forecast models suggest that a thermal spike underneath the intense Heat Dome will obliterate hundreds of June temperature records. An excessive heatwave could also challenge regions' all-time heat records, which normally peak in late July.
