@portraitinflesh Thought his response was more HS2 was this central engineering project imposed downwards with little local input especially on the city regions it was meant to serve and deliver, e.g it poorly blended with the existing rail network and city stations barley upgraded.
@humantransit Fast way Manc city centre to airport is the train, 15mins. The tram is to link the local area to the airport in one direction and the city in the other

@humantransit Not sure a one off experience is data, uk railways been growing. Lots of issues around first and last mile, some major station don’t have local buses after 7pm and ticketing structure is a mess and dominated by flows to/from London.
Doubt their on the coach either
@rosemeyer1939 I mean yeah it’s a risk but a bit harsh when it weeks ago it was a construction compound and there has already been announcements by the club into wanting it from Peel. Better to get it tidy and in use in the meantime.
@cyclist13@Sanny_Rudra The challenge back is Everton pay taxes for transport infrastructure like we all do, made a contribution through planning, they’ve built their stadium that has baked in rail use for decades to come and their fans will be paying fares to use the trains.
@Gary_Kilroy@ivatt2@Sanny_Rudra Platform width shouldn’t be the issue, plenty of stations serving stadiums similar. It’s how many trains an hour Merseyrail can run and how effective they manage the queues to match the destinations of those trains.
