As someone who is moving to Cyprus in September, I have a few questions in regard to your decision to move and leave (dw, I watched the whole video).
1. Did you do any research prior to moving?
Now don’t take this as an insult, but I have done substantial research about the laws, requirements, locations, culture, etc., and have contacted a few people there. It also helps that I have a good friend who recently moved to Larnaca, so he could give me more insight into what life is like for a new guy.
After doing my research and talking with people who live there, they’ve all said that Limassol is the most expensive city, filled with Russians, and that it’s not recommended for new people to move there. So my question is: why Limassol instead of Paphos, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, or Nicosia (I’m personally moving to Nicosia)? And why didn’t you do in-depth research into the place you were wanting to move to?
2. Was moving there a spontaneous decision?
I get that you thought the tax year was coming up, but there’s no way that rushing to choose the location where you’re going to call “home base” for some time is a good move.
3. Why didn’t you give Cyprus more time?
When I came to Cyprus to visit, I understood that it’s close to my culture (I’m Serbian) and that it was going to take some time to learn the language and understand the culture. But from what I got from your video, you gave Cyprus 4 weeks and then called it quits. I’m not shaming you or even saying that was a bad decision, but wouldn’t it make sense to stay there for 6 months or even a year before deciding whether to stay or leave?
Anyway, much love from Serbia, and I personally love the content.
