@henrywinter Sad news - he used to own a sports shop by Havant railway station and I’d always go and buy my football boots from him while I was at school. I remember that he was a devout Jehovah’s Witness but forgotten he’d settled in Cork for huge part of his life
@GordonFielden Interesting piece and much of it chimes with how I view political journalism. I no longer really want to hear what Peston or Mason tell us ‘what to make of it’; I can decide that for myself, if I care enough
@cyberistia I’d have signed him in January - not least so he wouldn’t score against us any more! Good player and we need solid performers, who may be able to raise their game under RDZ. No superstars are heading our way. Under ENIC, we have to ‘grow’ them before they go to market…
@GraemeBandeira I think the fall out from this will drag on until such time as the inevitable happens. Supporters feel let down to the extent they wouldn’t be able to get behind him. I don’t think he’ll be there at the start of the season.
@OllieHolt22@MikeKeegan_DM You’ve not really been around long enough Ollie, though you have. Club rivalries run deep and the nature of the clubs are much more multi-national in their nature than when Celtic, Forest, Utd, Liverpool,Spurs.were winning things. Not everyone supported them
@IanRidley1@NationalTheatre@mrJamesGraham The TV version gives more scope to develop characters - not least Harry Kane. It also highlights how shameful tabloid headlines fuelled an opening for social media warriors to rip apart people just doing their best, whatever their limitations
@IanDarke@KayBurley If two English sides were competing, might it be different? I seem to remember BT screened the Liverpool -Spurs final in 2019 on a one-off free-to-air basis.
Of course BT is no longer a provider
