NSW housing remains dismal.
Today’s ABS figures show:
❌ NSW May 2026 seasonally adjusted dwelling approvals at 4465, down from 4827 (already too low) in May 2025.
❌ Approvals per head in NSW in the 12 months to May 2026 the lowest of any mainland state.

Poker machine shame.
Today’s @smh:
“An influential Sydney mayor has launched an extraordinary attack on the Minns government over poker machines, accusing his own party’s MPs of being beholden to an intimidation campaign akin to the kind waged by America’s powerful gun lobby.
Inner West Council Mayor Darcy Byrne … said the issue had been ‘swept under the rug’ by Labor ministers and backbenchers for too long and described the scale of losses in pubs and clubs as ‘obscene’.”

Poker machine tax revenue in NSW was $2.232 billion in 2022-23.
The Government’s projection is $3.438 billion in 2029-30.
This is a 54% increase.
The Government’s Budget relies on money laundering and the misery from gambling addiction getting much worse.

A NSW Liberals/Nationals Government will deliver the most competitive payroll tax regime in Australia for small and medium businesses, as part of a comprehensive plan to grow the economy and to create more jobs.
We will do this by:
• Raising the payroll tax threshold from $1.2m to $1.5m.
• Reducing the payroll tax rate from 5.45% to 4.75% for businesses with a total Australian payroll below $10m.
• Introducing CPI indexation to payroll tax thresholds to eliminate bracket creep.
It’s bad enough having a do-nothing Labor government when it comes to transport infrastructure.
It’s even worse having one that’s been secretly considering cancelling a Liberals/Nationals project that’s already 90% complete!

For 18 months the Minns Government has sat on the Independent Panel on Gaming Reform report.
Meantime misery and devastation from pokie addiction continues.
Even Georges River Labor councillors call for urgent action including mandatory cashless gaming.

Today on National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, we remember those who’ve lost their lives, we reflect on the courage of victim-survivors and the tireless work of advocates and frontline workers, and we renew our collective determination to end this scourge of 21st century Australia.

Sincere condolences to families, colleagues and friends of three who lost their lives in the Ballina boating tragedy overnight, including two @MarineRescueNSW volunteers.
It’s a sad reminder of the risks our frontline emergency services workers take on every day in their work to keep us safe.

The last decade shows the need for sovereign capability in areas like energy and medicine - but to go down a more general protectionist route would be a huge folly.
We need more productivity, not less by propping up industries which can’t otherwise compete, if we want to maintain and improve our living standards.
Let’s not return to Australia’s relative decline in the 1960s and 1970s under former protectionist policies or, worse still, go down the Argentinian path.

Another child protection failure from the Minns Labor Government.
More than 550 children in the care of the Minister for Families and Communities are barely going to school.
