@mechanical_4u Yes I remember reading about mechanics who cursed the pilots/flight engineer for letting the plugs foul during warm-up and taxi. I believe it had two plugs per cylinder head. Rear row of cylinders also difficult to cool. See "Boeing 377 engine failures"!
@flightradar24 Flew on Pan Am Clippers in the 70s as a kid..New Dehlin to Karachi to Istanbul to Athens then Heathrow to JFK. Good times when stewardesses gave you gold plastic pilot wings (and the grown-ups could smoke while working on their Vodka and tonic).
@LandsknechtPike We still use them in firefighting. Great for pulling down dropped ceilings to get to hard to extinguish spaces without dropping everything on yourself!
@SSHSA I sailed on the SS Constitution as a brat toddler in the 60's. Now I know why my parents drank so much. I imagine the purser and stewards drank a lot as well...
@boomers_ass "To err is human. Forgiveness is not SAC policy". Old 6th SW rat who learned this at Eielson AFB supporting Cobra Ball in the 80s. TC-135 over Denali. Got a tanker hop because I was being a good E-3 LOL.
One of the most powerful storm damage images I’ve ever seen…
This was sent to us from Highmore where they recorded a 131 mph wind gust from the Catholic Church. It actually split the roof of the church.

My old USAF E-5 partner in crime managed to escape CONUS assignments for a long-long time...Between beer, Euro girls, and skiing--he always took time to take pictures.
The Old Town of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Taken in Aug 2020. Managed to sneak in during a break in the Covid restrictions and we had the town pretty much to ourselves. This was also one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones.
@dpmont0407 No argument about proper ship names but please don't make this poor Yank earn a PhD in Greek Mythology so I can know what/whom HMS Hermione, etc. is named after. I can remember "Flower Class" just fine however!
