What Gov. Abbott is doing in Texas is dangerous and puts children and families at risk for simply living their authentic lives.
In Illinois we believe #transrightsarehumanrights and we will do everything to protect our trans community from discrimination and hate.
I propose we make the 2022-23 school year about learning deceleration.
Let's slow learning down; let's enjoy it; let's give kids time and space to reflect and make decision.
Because the sense of urgency is squeezing all of the humanity--and the joy--out of learning.
One of our AMAZING AND TALENTED STUDENTS has a message for the world and we couldn’t be more proud. Head over to YouTube and like her video https://t.co/0R8sp9MxVI

The excitement we had to be able to see our kids drive thru is unmatched. Thank you to the village of staff that made this happen and made it special for our 5th graders! Sunnyside is truly the best.

@roushonda13 told my kids yesterday that she had chickens in her office so nobody else could come in and after as I was listening to them talk they were trying to figure out which staff member she calls chicken. I admittedly let the conversation go on 😂🐣🤷🏽♀️
I've been sharing this amazing picture on Zoom class visits — kids remote learning during a polio outbreak in the 1940s. Schools shut and teachers read lessons on the RADIO. We're facing such challenges today, but as I tell kids, we've faced them in the past and gotten through.
I have a message for all the little girls and boys out there who dream of growing up to be superheroes: Superheroes walk among us.
They’re teachers, doctors, scientists, vaccine researchers—and you can grow up to be like them too.
