The integration of the EIVE CubeSat has started!
The PCB stack which forms the core of the satellite has been assembled for the first time and is undergoing functional testing while the harness is being prepared and attached to the components.
This is one of the payloads that will launch on our next high altitude balloon #BUBBLE 3. The Institute for Photovoltaics (ipv) at @Uni_Stuttgart wants to test a new solar cell technology. Here you can see the carrier boards that will hold the cells.

To steer our #CubeSat#SOURCE in orbit we use magnetorquer coils. See how they are made in this video! This particular coil will be used for tests and helps us improve the winding process to get the quality we need for the flight models.

We are KSat! We are more than 100 space-enthusiastic students @Uni_Stuttgart, working together on our own space projects. Join us to build rocket experiments, high altitude balloons, satellites and more! More info and how to join at https://t.co/vg8WbYtecO. See you in the Stars!
13. My initial #orbit was 604.81 x 587.16 km and is now 604.78 x 582.94 km. I have traveled approximately 944.29 Mio. km through #space, this is a long and exciting #journey!
#BUBBLE2 sees a passenger jet (you can even hear it in the video) and passes its condensation trail shortly afterwards.
(Note: The launch was cleared with air traffic control and BUBBLE is designed to not damage an aircraft in the extremely unlikely event of a collision).
The full #GoPro video of the #BUBBLE2 flight last week is now up on your YouTube channel: https://t.co/NZJJeXhTpI
Overlaid are telemetry data and the tracking map so you can see exactly where and how high the balloon was. Go check it out!
Some highlights below (Thread ⬇️).
At 36km the GoPro's wide lense accentuates the curvature of the earth, just before the balloon bursts (as planned) and gondola, radiosonde and parachute start a rapid descent back to earth.
It's launch day! Today KSat will attempt to launch #BUBBLE2, the second iteration of our high-altitude balloon project. Lift-off can occur between 10:00 to 16:00 CEST. It should reach an altitude of 30-35km with a flight time of about 2.5h. Follow along here for live updates!
We recently held our annual general meeting. Many people were elected to new positions, including a change to our board: Maximilian Schneider is joining Natascha Bonidis and Mario Spahr to form our new leading trio. @PaulNehlich, leaves the board to focus on studying and #SOURCE.
