Last day at Ngulia 2023. Yesterday was good w 801 #birds ringed (last 5 flick-netted Swallows!). No mist last night & 140 birds in the bush nets. Euro Golden Oriole & the 1st Euro Reed Wblr since 2021 were quality. Bush nets packed away. Just night netting left. #nguliaringing

Heavy rain at dinner +mist but it thinned soon after & didn't return... but low cloud & rain meant some birds at dawn. c.250 ringed. 1st Great Reed Wblr in 2 yrs & kids flick-netting Swallows were highlights. #birdringing #nguliaringing #birds #tsavowest #ngulia #migration

02:00hrs on 12th Dec at Ngulia, #tsavowest NP. Thick mist but relatively few birds... Eurasian Wryneck seen perched on leopard tree - not caught (yet!). 150 birds ringed.. 90% Thrush Nightingales so far. #birdringing #nguliaringing #birds #tsavowest

The ringing table at @nguliasafari is a moth enthusiasts dream location - apart from constant comings and goings from all sorts of local goodies, just in the last few minutes Oleander, Silver-striped and Convolvulus Hawks, Scar Bank Gem and other UK rares have dropped in!

Sure @arochakenya will have a fuller report on events but propitious conditions last night dropped plenty of migrants at @nguliasafari to keep #nguliaringing busy: 459 ringed at night and another 602 this morning.

9:45pm at Ngulia, Tsavo West NP... and it's looking like mist is coming in!! Challenge: leopard hasn't come for his dinner yet & worse, the generator needs repair & will be turned off for 1.5 hrs soon! Hope we can catch lots after that. #nguliaringing #birds #ringing #tsavowest
