What possible justification could there be for the Govt to increase Ireland's tourism VAT rate, making it the 3rd highest in Europe?

Hoteliers broadly welcome the energy supports in #Budget23 but will seek amendment to criteria for all employers. Disappointed that the 9% VAT has not been extended & will continue to advocate for this critical measure to ensure the long-term sustainable growth of Tourism

[Irish Hotels Federation @IHFcomms]

Retaining 9% tourism VAT will go a long way to helping our industry recover. However, given the challenges ahead, we're calling on Govt to further extend this measure to 2025 @Denyse_Campbell @Paschald @cathmartingreen @mmcgrathtd #TourismJobs
