At last they arrived! The sea was huge, almost as big as the sky. It stretched away and away, full of sparkling light. Far out there were big waves.

Annie Rose’s bucket was full of seaweed and muddy water. She picked it up and tipped out the whole lot, on to the ground. There was a strong smell of seaside. Then Alfie and Annie Rose looked into the bottom of Annie Rose’s bucket and what do you think they saw?

They bought a pair of shiny new yellow boots for Alfie to wear when he went stamping about in mud and walking through puddles. Alfie was very pleased. He carried them home himself in a cardboard box.
