Police investigate assault
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an assault where hate is believed to be a motivating factor.
On July 4, police received a report of an assault that occurred earlier that day at approximately 1 p.m. at Costco located at 230 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. It was reported that a man was yelling racially offensive language at a family in the store. The man then approached another customer and assaulted him while continuing to shout racially offensive language.
The suspect is described as a white man, between 30 to 40 years of age and bald. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt, jeans and black boots.
Halifax Regional Police’s Hate Crime Unit is involved with the investigation.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or anyone who was targeted by the suspect during the incident at Costco is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.caor using the P3 Tips App.
Crimes and incidents motivated by hate are taken very seriously. If someone finds themselves exposed to behaviour that is offensive, threatening or intimidating, they are encouraged to report it to police. Even if an investigation does not find criminal wrongdoing, it is important to have it on record.

Clocks fall back this weekend, making reduced visibility during evening commutes. Motorists remember to turn on headlights. When approaching crosswalks be extra cautious for pedestrians & do double checks for all road users. Make #RoadSafety a priority.
@rgoins17 Loved cheering for you as a Jay!!! Will NEVER forget the ole second base trick shot to get the player out when you faked throwing the ball to the pitcher! Still chuckle over that one! Best wishes in your glory years!! 🩵⚾️
We will provide $500 to every household required to evacuate because of recent fires in Halifax Regional Municipality and Shelburne County.
The funding will be administered through the Canadian Red Cross. #novascotia
I can't express how angry I was when officials informed me six illegal burns were reported last night.
Stop lighting fires. Stop flicking cigarette butts out the window. Let's all smarten up and protect our resources.

@CBCBlairRhodes If my “spouse” committed these crimes, I think I would suspect that I would be under close eye by police. I would also say as much as I could to help the investigation if I was innocent to prove otherwise. I know her life is drastically affected but so have 22 other families.
Today marks the first anniversary of the disappearance of Devon Sinclair Marsman. It's never too late to come forward. The smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. https://t.co/BWxYdQRjSH
