It's a horrific tragedy that education was /is associated with a greedy, evil business like human chattel enslavement, and facing that truth is something that definitely ought to be undertaken whenever possible/necessary.

The idea of a university acknowledging its own history, regardless of image, seems a logical step in making up for its own shortcomings, and an open, honest discussion with each other is the best way to go about it.

I knew Stephen Douglas was responsible for half of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, but I did not know much more about him, or his association with an antebellum Democratic Party.
@NoahWat86619197 I can probably agree with that. Property in a Democracy/economic nation is a helpful commodity, especially when you aren't unnecessarily restricted in owning it.

It seems we, as humans, always build things that perpetuate themselves, compounding their usefulness to the ones who possess influence. This breeds discontent, sometimes envy, and the little person can get lost in the weeds of restricted class mobility.
@carolhist1020 seems like BS, but maybe class struggles aren't as clear-cut as they used to be. A well-developed middle class could maybe cover up some of the darker aspects of opportunistic capitalism and social mobility.

The most unrealistic part of Dr. Strangelove was the fact General Ripper was holding the hot barrel of a .50 cal machine gun while firing it. The toxic masculinity-fueled conspiracies of war and communist subterfuge are pretty spot on for a modern world.

I'm surprised I had never seen Dr. Strangelove before. General Ripper's choice to institute attack wing R in the first 30 minutes reflects true existential fear in the face of an enemy too terrible to comprehend: total annihilation by scientific advancement.

The title of the assigned YT video is a bit interesting, but the speech Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao gave presents a deep understanding of the colonialism that altered the direction of her continent.

Mrs. Blaine's essay analyzes the religiously vitriolic identifiers attributed to people of color and the purposefully divisive rhetoric garnered by these beliefs.

The coalescence of feminism and racial unity is strong in Mrs. Keisha Blaine's essay, and her tone denotes a firm determination to make a better world.
