next time you goto the polls, vote for anyone but a Republican or a Democrat. it doesn't matter if this non-establishment candidate doesn't "stand a chance"; if all of us did the same, at the minimum we increase the chance of eliminating one swamp creature.
@EuromaidanPress German chancellor is correct to hesitate: not a brilliant and downright reckless idea to share the latest military technology with Ukraine. technology, once shared, cannot be recalled.
only army surplus, watered down, export versions can be shared.
Russia has been a place of self sufficiency since WWII and a place that developed nuclear weapon technology independently (on a relatively shoe string budget); why would anyone think sanctions would work effectively on them?
windfall gains for #Russia (free abandoned #assets such as planes, oil refinery equipment, etc.) vs losses and pain for the West (losses from the abandonment of the aforementioned assets, higher #inflation, negative shocks to energy and strategic resource #security, etc.).
the entire business is an exercise of slow motion, dishonorable seppuku by the West, all prompted because of deliberate NATO encroachment/creep against #Russian security.
@EthicalSkeptic ES, would it be accurate to say that the flatness of the obesity and over 65 lines in the naive zone suggest that the death rate for those not obese and under 65 was even more exponential where no prior immunity was commonplace? rather alarming, if so.
@realJohnnyQ@Clarkmag2@EthicalSkeptic the timeline bar represents the projected or estimated point in time those countries were exposed to the immunity mechanism; it is not mean to indicate anything else and should not be read as "time going backwards".
was #Afghanistan a setup all along? seems like Taliban and the "Afghan" military are on the same side. how much vetting was done of army recruits?
get the US to come in, fund infrastructure, armaments, only to have the spoils split when the gig was up?
@SariArhoHavren@Aureliano_no_24@StuartKLau the lack of an armed civilian populace is actually a negative in terms of Taiwan's ability to present an effective defence.
functional society and will of a society to fight for enduring freedom vs a numerically and technologically superior aggressor are two different things.
@SariArhoHavren@Aureliano_no_24@StuartKLau the combat effectiveness of the current generation of armed forces in Taiwan is unknown.
that said, it does not seem likely that there will be a repeat of Afghanistan given stark differences in the situation, such fight for their homeland vs for foreign puppet government.
@EthicalSkeptic@stormnelius TES, thank you and concur.
if i understand your posts correctly (and it isn't easy!), it is preferable to obtain immunity via wild virus than a vaccine, correct?
is there any vaccine you would consider taking, if push came to hypothetical shove?
@EthicalSkeptic@stormnelius TES, appreciate if you could share your view on protein subunit or virus like particle vaccines (that do not invoke one's cells to create the S1 protein) such as Novavax and CoVLP?
He said in the short to medium term, it is possible that widespread use of export controls “could reduce the amount of global chip manufacturing capacity, exacerbating supply chain issues.”
