@ceo_wale I will never be comfortable calling anyone older or my age by their name. If that is the culture in that setting u won't here me call anyone directly, it will be alias like calling charles charley etc
This is a very interesting dilemma, Both concerns are very valid but I have serious issues with the wife on some certain things and Her insistent on not wanting to shift Her stand.
Frankly unless She's preparing for eventual seperation or divorce She should re think Her stand.
We are all allowed to take a break when tired or exhausted, For a Man that has proven to be a go getter, responsible and dependable, He really shouldn't have to ask before He is actually encouraged to slow down or stop for a while.
What the Man is asking for is not too much, Burn out stress is real, very real and He is Human too.
They are not struggling financially, maybe not just yet but there is no indication to suggest they will be even at any time because they both have good pensions and investments as affirmed by both of them.
This is a classic case of when ease comes people generally forget where they come or started from and I am inclined to believe if this Man were to run into serious financial distress this Madam will bolt and that will be a disgrace.
Life can and do happen, If this Man were to become terminally , and as such unable to work anymore would She have adjusted the family finances in a different way? As a Dr She of all people knows life can change in an instant, If She became unwell and unable to run Her Practice, would the Husband insist She must?
The particular line about 'I am a Dr and I know His illness can be managed' actually Irk Me, Thats nonsense Madam !
Daily we read here how Men stroke and some die prematurely because of Pressure, even as a Dr you cannot 100% predict any illness or disease outcome.
A bit of arrogance, ego and power play is showing here Madam. I strongly believe you won't be this adamant if You are not as successful and that's worrying.
He is writing still, He is not particularly jobless, He is taking a break to pivot into something else, He hasn't said He won't return back to work, He has even volunteered to pay His way for His own expenses till then, He just needs some time to recharge.
Madam Ese suuru gan o, Ibukun ni fun Omo odo na to fi Ogbon se. Ema ya alaimore si Olorun.
Having said all the above, I understand the fear of unknown, uncertainty and what fear of poverty can do to our mindsets. It makes us wants to be in control always, Sadly its not entirely up to us and even sometimes with best efforts, plan and intentions we may still not be able to mitigate against every eventualities. So let God, Love, consideration for others and fairness lead in your marriage, it appears you have currently derailed. Don't lose a beautiful home and union because of ego. Life is all about compromise, He is your Husband still. Please meet Him halfway till He is Mentally ready to go again. He is not a lazy Man just a tired one looking for care , love, attention and consideration in this phase of tiredness and exhaustion. We all thrive when we support each other in our most vulnerable moments, Your Husband is currently vulnerable, Don't make His situation worse by being insistent, Love Him up into full recovery and He may return to work earlier than you even anticipate and even if He doesn't, Its not the end of the road. He is an intelligent and responsible Man, He will figure something else out.
May the Lord continue to uphold your union, Home and ours too🤲🤲🤲
Compramos piso. Yo puse 40.000 de entrada de mis ahorros, ella puso 4.000. La hipoteca la pagamos a medias. En la notaría, la escritura decía 50% y 50%. Todos sonriendo. No firmé por no cortar el momento. Paré al notario y dije...
Whenever I come back from “the abroad”, the first thing I look for is Suya and roasted corn. My Mai Suya are very diligent. The only days they are not there are on Sallah holidays.
Having been “in the abroad” for more than a month, I looked forward to my local ram suya. They were not there on Saturday. I thought “That’s odd!” They were not there again on Sunday. I felt that something must be wrong.
When they were not there again by 12 noon on Monday, as they usually are everyday, I was really concerned.
There is a smart young woman who does a POS business near them. I asked her why they had not come for three days and she said that they had a little problem. I asked her what “little problem” they had.
Apparently, someone had come to buy Suya from them. While he was buying the Suya, a car thief entered his car and drove it away. He then accused my Suya guys of being responsible for the theft of his car, since he was buying Suya from them when it was stolen. He had all of them arrested and locked up!
I asked for their numbers and the POS lady said that they had seized all their phones. I didn’t know which police station they were at. I didn’t know their names and on the occasions that I had paid for my suya with a bank transfer, I didn’t save their account details that would have shown a name at least.
I started asking the people I knew in the police, but felt a bit silly saying “I am looking for four Suya guys that were arrested.”
I was determined to intervene because I know that it was just one “big man” taking out his frustrations on some little guys. How long does it take to buy Suya that they will have enough time to organise for your car to be stolen?
Those guys have been on that street for 20 years. They sell four full rams every day. They have come to my house to roast ram suya when I have had major social events.
I asked another Suya guy who sells beef suya nearby whether he had any of their phone numbers but he said that even he doesn’t have a phone, never mind having anybody’s phone number.
After searching for them for a week, I finally found a guy who said that they had now been bailed from the police station and were considering resuming their business. They had lost at least two weeks and were so traumatised by the experience that they did not want to return to the same location on Ebitu Ukiwe where they had been for 20 years!
I arranged with the guy who knew them that he will take me to go and see them when I return from my current trip. I will see if I can persuade them to return to their usual spot next to the diligent POS young woman and the nice lady that sells roasted corn. Perfect combination!
This country can be brutal when you are not a big man. Those of us who are not small in our own right have a duty to help protect the little guys from the typical Naija “big man.” I will find that their accuser, somehow, someway. You might think that you are a big man but “Even your boo get a boo (a boo, a boo).”
I am Ezemmuo. I know things.
@O_ladele Your calculation is wrong. The only advantage yours have over him is quick access to money to start a pending business idea, more like having access to loan with no interest
