The freeze has thawed. Quilibrium V2.1 is now live on mainnet!
Builds are now released to general availability.
The network has unhalted and we’ve entered a 24-hour initial enrollment phase. This is a pivotal moment, as the first set of nodes joining will define how shards are distributed across the protocol. It marks the beginning of live operations. If any critical issues arise, we have a path to pause and return to a safe state.
After 24 hours, the network becomes fully decentralized. The beacon shuts down permanently, shards are finalized, and transactions in the new format begin processing. From this point forward, the system is operating fully in the 2.1 environment.
Once stable operations are confirmed, which may take between 24 hours and a week depending on conditions, we will activate the bidirectional bridge, bring QStorage and QKMS onto mainnet, open QConsole for everyone, and migrate existing user data into the upgraded environment.

A: Partnerships focus on Wallet-as-a-Service providers and decentralized apps. Quilibrium addresses decentralization gaps by offering solutions for hosting both front-end and back-end operations.
Q: Have these partnerships been effective?
A: Yes, many companies approached Quilibrium unprompted, highlighting its relevance. Developers find the network solves unique challenges that other protocols cannot.
Q: Can you share names of communities or partners?
A: Not yet. Partnerships and community onboarding announcements are pending until necessary features (e.g., usernames, public invites) are in place.
⛏ Mining and Network Dynamics
Q: How does mining work on the network?
A: Mining rewards are proportional to contributions, ensuring fairness. Unlike Bitcoin, Quillibrium’s design guarantees rewards for all miners submitting proofs.
Q: Are there concerns about mining centralization?
A: While large farms dominate mining, the system ensures equal footing for participants using stock clients. Efforts like the 2.0.6 release aim to prevent unfair advantages.
Q: How are emissions managed?
A: Token emissions are tied to network growth. As the state of the network increases, emissions naturally decrease, preventing uncontrolled expansion.
🔒 Privacy and Security
Q: How does the protocol handle user privacy?
A: All user metadata is encrypted, and only public keys are visible. Apps cannot access sensitive details like IP addresses or device information.
Q: Can app developers bypass privacy measures?
A: The protocol design discourages data collection by making it costly and inefficient to do so. Developers are incentivized to adopt privacy-first practices.
⚠️ Challenges and Criticism
Q: How does the team handle criticism and FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt)?
A: By focusing on transparency, delivering consistent results, and discouraging speculation. Negative narratives are countered by demonstrating the project’s value through ongoing development.
Q: What is the biggest risk to the project’s success?
A: The primary risk is lack of adoption. This is being mitigated through Quorum, AWS-compatible services, and expanding developer engagement.
📱 Applications and Use Cases
Q: What applications are planned for the network?
A: Planned applications include custody wallets, decentralized exchanges, social media platforms, and NFT marketplaces.
Q: Will there be an encrypted email service?
A: An encrypted email service is unlikely due to the complexities of dealing with SMTP and major providers like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Q: Can Quilibrium support online marketplaces?
A: Yes, the Q Name Service will demonstrate a marketplace, and the broader ecosystem will support storefronts and other AWS-like services.
🗳 Governance and Future Plans
Q: How will governance work after 2.1?
A: Governance will rely on protocol consensus, where mining operators influence decisions through hardware resource allocation. Social consensus will play a role in resolving forks.
Q: What happens after 2.1?
A: Efforts will focus on developer evangelism, onboarding, and integrating with other networks for privacy-preserving solutions like trustless bridges.
Q: Are there plans for a developer conference?
A: Not yet, but the team is considering a balanced, development-focused event similar to Farcaster’s FarCon.

🧑🎓@QuilibriumInc Academy Lesson 5
TL;DR: Quorum Messenger ("QM") is more than just a Discord clone: it offers the world's first true secure, p2p encrypted group messenger. Running on Q, it addresses immediate needs while helping secure Q Inc's equity round and adding Q utility.
Long version
What is it?
Quorum Messenger ("QM" for short) is a peer to peer direct and group messenger, with advanced encryption capable of handling extremely large groups with the same bandwidth required as direct messages. QM is an important milestone for the Quilibrium ecosystem. After the token application, it offers the first true dApp running on the Q mainnet while addressing a serious problem in the realm of group messaging clients.
Why is it important?
Recently, @CISACyber has provided urgent guidance for users to switch to end to end encrypted messengers. The risks of authorized surveillance are greater than ever. Centralized applications, like Discord, have some E2EE encryption but not for all messages. Moreover, Tencent owns a significant portion of Discord, a fact that they don't love to publicize.
Prominent minds in the crypto space have been calling for a true p2p encrypted group messenger for ages, including @VitalikButerin (Ethereum). QM is well-positioned to fill that void.
A Discord copycat?
Providing a familiar user experience is important for enabling users to easily migrate to QM from other messaging applications. QM is targeting feature parity with Discord and other popular group messaging apps, but will include additional features that benefit the web3/crypto ecosystem. Discord relies on a ton of third party integrations to cobble together a typical crypto-focused community (with token gating for example). Imagine the possibilities of a group messenger built from the ground up with crypto in mind.
Ease of Use
Creating an account on QM is as easy as creating a new Passkey on your mobile device. No need to create a wallet, install a browser extension, or connect Metamask. Part of Q's alternative thesis to consumer crypto is enabling people to use it without even knowing it.
Immediate utility for $QUIL / $wQUIL
QM is free to use, but offers premium features (QM "Apex") similar to Discord Nitro for a subscription. That subscription will initially cost 50 QUIL per month (~$5 USD) but will be adjusted automatically to be predictable against stable currencies. Furthermore, users will be able to authorize debits from their Q accounts to automatically fund their subscription should they choose. (I suspect we'll also see easier fiat/credit card on-ramping in the future to provide Discord-level familiarity to a crypto-native platform: fiat > QUIL > Apex payment.)
A catalyst for closing Q Inc's equity round
We know that Quilibrium Inc has been raising funds silently for the past many months. They have been steadfast in their mission to not offer token warrants to VCs, ensuring the Q ecosystem is entirely "fair launch". The only way to acquire tokens is through running nodes and providing compute to the network. While this has made things more challenging from a crypto raise perspective, it positions the project for success and ensures the right partners are brought on who see the potential in Q Inc, and not just the token. Q Inc is unable to discuss the status of the raise due to legal concerns, but real utility for the network and a revenue source for Q Inc will surely act as a catalyst to close the equity round and enable the "hiring frenzy" that @cass_on_mars has promised. Discord Nitro is a huge money maker for the platform, and QM only needs to capture a small % of that for it to be wildly profitable.
Open Source
QM is open source, and we can expect a lot of third party integrations and apps to emerge that build upon and improve Q Inc's base functionality. This offers a lot of exciting opportunities for the platform.
High performance
QM relies on Quilibrium's advanced layer 1 network to facilitate message passing at a rate comparable to other social platforms. This is a concrete use case and demonstration of Q's abilities as a decentralized network.
