is what happens when an athlete isn't part of a sports "program" embroiled in a corporate standoff or outright corruption.
They just get stuff done.
Iga Swiatek says Alex Eala played braver tennis than her in the important moments at Wimbledon, ‘In the tiebreak, I slowed down a bit. She was brave enough to play a bit faster’
“I’m happy how I came back in the tiebreaker and also after being a break down in the 1st set… Because I feel like in Paris, I would just lose it straight. I was there to fight. It wasn’t enough. For sure I could play a little bit better. But she also played great. She used her chances. She went for it. In the tiebreak, I remember when it was tight, I slowed down a bit. She was brave enough to play a bit faster. You need to be brave in Wimbledon to win these points. It was hard for me to balance this speed that I have that made me lose some matches this year because I was playing too fast, with being solid. I didn’t find that good balance today and I lost. She played better in important moments.”

Marta Kostyuk after beating Navarro to reach 1st Wimbledon R16
“I was talking to my husband yesterday and I told him I really want to win the match, but the most important thing, I want to enjoy it 100%. I’m on tour for a very long time already. I feel like I missed out on a lot of incredible moments because I was so focused on winning something, achieving something. In tennis it never stops. I play well here, there’s a tournament next week starting. It never ends. I found this formula for myself that no matter what the result is, the most important thing is to enjoy it 100%. I feel so privileged to be here.” 🥹
It’s fun to roast Law, but he is there to critique fashion. This look was cute for a themed drag race prompt. You would not see it walking down an haute couture runway, nor would you see it on Zendaya at a premiere.
