Todays destruction of Kakhovka dam risks Ukraines food output, affecting 70%-80% of its irrigated land. Potential yearly losses equate to soy consumption by 1.4 million people, and maize intake by 0.5 million, according to our estimations.

I'm looking for a master student who is interested to look into the impact of different precipitation products on hydrological modelling in Central Asia.
Join us for an exciting panel discussion moderated by Andrea Loredana Cretu (BEI Program) featuring very interesting guests, namely, Andrea Schnell (@schnllr), Beatrice Marti (@maTestBD), Benita Combet (@benitacombet), and Mirka Henninger (@MirkaHenninger)!
My favourite review process ever has come to fruition: @H2O_SOL R package riverCentralAsia has just been published in JOSS.
Many thanks to the reviewers and editors for their constructive comments which improved the package a lot!

@H2O_SOL used the CropMapper to monitor areas of wheat production. A drop in wheat production has a severe impact on food security.

We have new visitors in the office @H2O_SOL! Aidar has been working on hydrological modelling in Kazakhstan and is now diving into irrigation monitoring with GEE. Adrian is doing a master thesis on reservoir monitoring with GEE in the Zarafshan basin.

We're never able to reproduce the real system with our hydrological models and I have been struggling with how to effectively communicate uncertain model results to decision makers or collaborators in interdisciplinary projects.
They argue, that instead of focusing on uncertainties, modellers of complex systems might do better to focus on storylines which are relevant to decision makers.
Definitely an approach I plan to try out!
