One could argue any cutoff is arbitrary to someone, but a player can have exhausted eligibility under the old framework if the new framework isn't in effect yet. The NCAA needs at least some limited antitrust exemption or the courts will get in the way of every decision because there are virtually unlimited class actions of players with competing interests. The whole system will grind to a halt if each class of players is allowed to seek remedies through the courts.

@swaggarly The PAPF wasn't designed to be a de facto (no questions asked) transfer portal...just the opposite. IMO, the default box checked should be "for athletic purposes" unless the reason for a move is both obvious and verifiable...at least until this mess settles down.

Thank you to teammates and coaches at @WFnorthtexasCDP and for a great summer. Wow Factor Texas 2028 played 46 games in 66 days, had a team record of 30-13-3, and won multiple tournaments. Thank you @DustinLMcComas for the write-up at the #MantleWS. The related video clip shows a two-strike approach. We were down 2-1 with a runner on third & one out. I was sitting at an 0-2 count and needed to get a bat on that ball no matter what.

Morris finished the tournament with a 1.119 OPS and made the bat look light in his hands. A physical presence with a strong lower half, the right-handed hitter especially impressed with how naturally and easily he kept his hands back to time pitches and was able to create impressive bat speed even when his lower half wasn’t in his swing. Some guys simply look like they can naturally time pitches and put the bat on the ball and Morris exhibited that look. If he taps into his lower half in his swing more often, there is some real power that could develop. Player to watch at Southlake Carroll.

The summer before my son's junior year, I caught myself checking his phone for coach replies before he was awake. Me, forty years in this game, the guy who had warned a hundred families about exactly this, reading tone into two-line emails at six in the morning. I tell you so you will forgive yourself when it happens in your house, and then do what I finally did: hand the process back to your son and go back to being his parent. He needed a father that summer more than he needed a scout. Yours does too.

Update from last week - Wow Factor Texas 2028 made it to the quarterfinals of the @FiveToolOklahoma #MantleWS / @FiveToolTexas. We had played 15 games in the last 11 days so I think we just ran out of gas but competed the whole way. Had a fun week with the guys on the road.

I didn’t see many attackable pitches this tournament but tried to stay patient and take what they gave: .462/.650/.538, 5 BB, 3 SB, BA/RISP .667 and had six ABs of 6+ pitches. Contact % dipped a little, so this week I'll work on head and eye position in the cage.
