@7oakOLeary We know which cultural groups statistically take Gr10 App/PreCal more often, and which lean more to taking Gr10 Essential Math, closing doors to many college courses and high-paying careers. Cycle of poverty in some communities, yet no coordinated effort to improve math ed.

@MBSchoolBoards Methods of reopening will be a school-by-school local decision. Transportation, semester-systems, classroom physical area, and class sizes all make this impossible for any provincial or divisional regulations. Talk to your school’s principals. Let them know they’ll be in charge!

@AngusReid This is why Germany is beating Covid19— widespread testing! Ottawa has been in talks with Spartan to mass produce a rapid test, but they are 8-12 weeks away due to needed funding and govt and peer approvals. How does this get sped up?! Who do we pressure?

Mathematical Mindsets was great, the online U^3 course was too, but Limitless Mind was a disappointing read. New huge claims with only anecdotal support, no real proofs. Am I missing something? Please let me know what you liked about it. I want my opinion changed. 2 out of 5.

A terrific read! Esp for HS Math/Science teachers/students. Du Sautoy uses funny stories, basic math, and clever analogies to explain the current limits of science in chaos theory, quantum physics, theology, and other topics. 5 out of 5, I will read more by this author.

@peachsandgrades The best piece of advice I got in my 1st year was to try to be a good teacher, not a great teacher. Great comes after years of successfully being good. I hope this helps. Don’t set unattainable standards on yourself. Forgive yourself and persevere!

@andrewmead73 Independent schools are funded by the government at 50%. If this funding was to stop, and every private student joined the public system, that cost to the government would double. Also add extra costs of classrooms and teachers. Ind schools save MB money.

@WabKinew Spoke with Commissioner Lees- he’s a teacher with 30+ years experience and he’s still subbing occasionally as he helps with the review. Seem like good, experienced people who are getting into classes and asking for input from everyone, including you. No need to attack. Take part.
