@ColinDMello Any form of instability is a direct result of this government’s failure to fund public education.
Teachers bargain for salaries/benefits, but also for learning conditions, support for special education, funding for necessary resources…
Does any other profession do that?
@maritstiles Kudos to you for being able to sit through QP with Doug Ford, King of Lies and his merry band of clapping seals. I’d lose my mind, and I spend all day with 10 year olds!!
@birgitomo 11-year-olds know that writing a note like that is hateful and racist. If we don’t address it at this age, they will teach their own children to do the same thing in the future.
@birgitomo Taught K-5 for over 20 years and the incidents of students using racial slurs is more common now than ever before in my career. 100% coming from the home, but schools end up being the places that must address it. We must call it out, no excuses. No tolerance for hate.
On the weekend, my parents’ church in Beamsville, Ontario was targeted in a hate crime. The pride flag that the church flies to symbolize being an affirming church was taken down and ripped to shreds. @samoosterhoff what is your response to hate crimes in your riding? @CTVNews
@jennyleeshee I think your real followers are your support group, as you support us with your humour and wit.
We all need to be more focused on Ford and his corrupt cronies and grade 1 teachers need to be immature (you wouldn’t get through the day all serious)!
@TonySoprannnnoo @jennyleeshee We can teach, confirm and measure without assigning a grade. We do it all day, every day.
I would also argue that day care professionals teach, confirm and measure. Stop degrading both professions.
@jennyleeshee Agree wholeheartedly!! All the way through school, in my opinion. Grades are part of the colonial structure of our education system. Much better to show progress made. And the Arts are super important, but I’m no artist. Not really qualified to judge kids’ art.
@maritstiles All of those claims are ridiculous! What does “net-new” mean? That you just move existing teachers into roles called math lead? Also, it’s easy to double 0, since that’s the number of math coaches in classrooms now. And our board (most likely all boards) already has a math lead.
@Teachers__Unite This was the govt plan all along. Promise a full year of no interruptions, then stall negotiations, ignore COVID, and blame teachers when they take job action next year. I can hear that smarmy Lecce already “we delivered a full year of school but now teachers won’t. I hate him.
@unlearn16tweet@Sflecce@YouTube This is fantastic! You are absolutely right, this smacks of shady backroom deals with donors.
Look how quickly publishers have created resources for the Science of Reading. I can’t believe we are living in a time where we could do so much good and choose not to. 😢
