J.K. Rowling raises an important question: if adult gender clinics have long-term outcome data, why wasn’t it made available to inform the Cass Review? Before exposing another generation of vulnerable young people to experimental interventions, we should fully examine the evidence we already have.

The problem is that the PATHWAYS trial isn't the trial Cass called for.

It's not even a clinical trial as most people understand it.

They're giving 226 kids puberty blockers to see what happens when you give puberty blockers to 226 kids who desperately want puberty blockers.

The "illness" is puberty: the "treatment" is to stop puberty.

There's no scientific or ethical basis for this trial.

Just a reminder. The Cass Review also called for the Adult Gender clinics to release their data to allow some review about what happened to the 9K children referred to the Tavistock. The law was changed to make this possible. The Adult clinics, with one I think noble exception, all refused to share.

That Cass wants to proceed without this data linkage being studied first is the problem. There can be no justification for further medicalisation of children without at least some attempt to find out what happened to the many thousands of others.

I am begging critics of the puberty blocker trial to stop getting lost in the weeds arguing about research ethics, Gillick competence, informed consent, fertility preservation and the like. The NHS’s refusal to complete the Data Linkage Study (DLS) before proceeding with a new trial is the ONLY argument worth making on this issue. Everything else is a distraction.
The DLS would find out what has happened to all the children who have already taken puberty blockers. There is NO justification for proceeding with a puberty blocker trial before the DLS is complete. The entire programme of future research in this area should be informed by its results. The fact that the NHS is getting ready to run a live experiment on vulnerable children before it has even established the fate of those it has already experimented on is utterly damning.
The deeply disappointing Dr Cass should be widely derided for her ridiculous comments on ‘harm reduction’. The DLS IS harm reduction. Critics of the trial must stop fighting on their opponents turf by quibbling over technical details. We need to relentlessly force the DLS onto the agenda and expose the shameful hypocrisy of the NHS. DO THE DLS.

Whereas not a single person was ever prosecuted under Section 28, Labour’s new law might not only see concerned parents in prison, but would also create the conditions by which gay people are subjected to irreversible medical interventions to see them ‘heterosexualised’.

The Iranian government has been promoting 'sex changes' as a remedy for homosexuality for years. By insisting that transgender identity ought to be automatically affirmed — an approach that has led to the prescription of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and even surgery for gay people — the UK government is now following suit.

Possibly, as Minister for Health, James Murray could compel the adult gender clinics to hand over the data they refused to give to Cass. We might then find out just how much benefit these interventions confer long term, without needing to perform experiments on children too young to give meaningful consent.

Read the testimony of the ever-expanding numbers of detransitioners. Grasp that these young people, many of them extremely vulnerable - autistic, care-experienced, abuse survivors, same-sex attracted in unsupportive families - have been irreparably harmed, left with their fertility destroyed, unending medical complications and profound psychological damage.

This is a medical scandal of epic proportions and people of power and influence are still too frightened of trans activists and trans lobby groups to do the right thing and put an end to the insanity. Kids are being sacrificed to ideology and cowardice.
