പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട പ്രേക്ഷകരേ,

1994-ൽ, പ്രണയവും നർമ്മവും ഗ്രാമീണ പശ്ചാത്തലവും മനോഹരമായ സംഗീതവും ഒത്തുചേർന്ന ഒരു സിനിമ നമ്മെ തേടിയെത്തി ‘തേന്മാവിൻ കൊമ്പത്ത്’. നമ്മൾ ആ സിനിമ കണ്ടു ചിരിച്ചു… സങ്കടപ്പെട്ടു… അതിലെ ഓരോ പാട്ടുകളും നമ്മുടെ കല്യാണവീടുകളിലും ആഘോഷങ്ങളിലും പാടി, ആസ്വദിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ, അറിയാതെ തന്നെ നമ്മൾ വളർന്നു. പക്ഷേ, എന്തോ… ആ സിനിമയ്ക്ക് നമ്മളോടൊപ്പം പ്രായമായില്ല.

ഇന്നും അതിലെ ഓരോ ഫ്രെയിമും, ഓരോ കഥാപാത്രവും, ഓരോ പാട്ടും, ഓരോ ചിരിയും നമ്മുടെ ഓർമ്മകളിൽ അതേ പുതുമയോടെ തന്നെയുണ്ട്. കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു വർഷമായി, ആ ഓർമ്മകളെ വീണ്ടും വലിയ സ്ക്രീനിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവരാനുള്ള ഒരു യാത്രയിലായിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ " മാറ്റിനി നൗ". ഒറിജിനൽ 35mm പ്രിന്റിൽ നിന്ന് 4Kയിൽ സ്കാൻ ചെയ്ത്, അതിന്റെ സംഗീതത്തിന��ം ശബ്ദങ്ങൾക്കും സ്നേഹത്തോടെ പുതിയൊരു ജീവൻ നൽകി, Dolby Atmos-ൽ മിക്സ് ചെയ്ത്, ഇതിഹാസതുല്യനായ സംവിധായകൻ പ്രിയദർശനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സംഘവും അന്ന് ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ തന്നെ, ആ സിനിമയുടെ ആത്മാവ് നഷ്ടപ്പെടാതെ ഞങ്ങൾ പുനഃസ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

ഈ സിനിമയുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന പല ഇതിഹാസ കലാകാരന്മാരും ഇന്ന് നമ്മോടൊപ്പമില്ല. എങ്കിലും, ഈ സെപ്റ്റംബറിൽ, കുറച്ചു നേരത്തേക്ക് അവർ വീണ്ടും വലിയ സ്ക്രീനിലെത്തും.
നമ്മെ വീണ്ടും ചിരിപ്പിക്കാൻ…ആർപ്പുവിളിപ്പിക്കാൻ…ചിലപ്പോൾ കണ്ണുനിറയിക്കാനും… ❤️. അവരോടൊപ്പം ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി നമുക്ക് സഞ്ചരിക്കാം, ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി ‘തേന്മാവിൻ കൊമ്പത്ത്’ കാണാം.
കുടുംബത്തെയും കൂട്ടി വരൂ. ഒരുമിച്ചിരുന്ന് ചിരിക്കാനും പാടാനും ഓർമ്മകൾ പങ്കി���ാനും വരൂ.

Some films release. A few films stay.

In 1994, a film came to us from a village of mango trees, mischief and music. We laughed with it, we sang its songs at our weddings, we grew up, and we grew older & somehow, the film never aged with us. It simply waited.

For the past year, frame by frame, note by note, we at Matinee Now have been bringing Thenmavin Kombathu back; scanned from the original 35mm print in 4K, its music and sounds lovingly recreated, mixed in Dolby Atmos. Not changed. Just restored to what the legendary Priyadarshan and his team always intended it to be.

Most of those legends are no longer with us. This September, for a little while, they will make us laugh, cheer and cry on the big screen again. Come sit with them one more time.
