Living in Spreadsheets since 1991. Finance graduate trying to balance my love of reading as well as do my spreadsheets. Here you can tell me if I'm doing well.
$LULU just admitted for the second quarter in a row that its own narrator can't be trusted, sales down, guidance cut twice, and a new ceo inheriting the plot twist before she's even read chapter one. every story eventually has to reconcile with its numbers, and this one's overdue
learning that the hard way, one spreadsheet update at a time
worth flagging one thing before getting excited. this is arm-based windows, which has a rough track record on app compatibility going back to qualcomm's attempts. 1 petaflop of local ai and 128gb unified memory sounds great on paper, but nvidia's "runs all windows 11 apps" claim hasn't been independently benchmarked yet. real local compute is the direction i want too, just worth waiting for actual hands-on reviews before calling it solved
no need to comment on this one don' you think? his empire is still one of the longlasting highearning of our times even after his departure. let us learn from this guy!
gopro filed a going-concern warning right before this, after ai-driven memory price spikes squeezed its balance sheet. rebranding into ai data-center optics gave a company ai nearly broke the one exit that still trades at a premium, the same playbook allbirds ran in april as smartbird
gpt-6 astra hitting openai's own "critical" cybersecurity threshold is more than just a safety headline, it seems to be like a compute headline. models this capable just get more and more expensive. keep and eye out and expect this to show up in $NVDA next earnings call in november 👀as demand justification, not just anthropic's
and to think it's not even openai's last launch of the yr 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@ML_Philosophy as long as we have new generations there's no logic in losing faith. there's hope in our children as long as we are able to pass down the knowledge of our ancestors and praise remind them of the importance of community we should be able to have faith!
gold up over 2% and stocks rallying on the same day isn't the usual script, but rate-hike odds slipping while fed governor waller talks down inflation pressure explains both moves at once

the gold data checks out, but most of that 27% jump is price appreciation, none of it is central banks actually dumping treasuries for gold in volume. two very different stories. the bitcoin leap in the second half of this post is the thesis part. i'd say it's worth keeping those separate in your spreadsheet
most complicated trading strategies exist to avoid admitting the market did something the model didn't predict. from where i stand simplicity survives because it doesn't need an excuse
30-year treasury yields at their highest since 2006 while stocks slide and oil jumps on iran. that's three different fires going at once, not one clean story

ai is starting to have a budgeting problem.
for companies using ai at scale, the question isn't just which model performs best. it's which model is worth paying for.
perplexity is tackling this through model routing, matching queries with different models based on the task instead of defaulting to the most expensive frontier model every time. models like claude sonnet and gpt-5.6 are now seeing more usage than the highest-cost models.
why pay for a frontier model when a mid-cost model can deliver the same outcome?
that's the shift from tokenmaxxing to intelligent routing..

bitgo's ceo says the bitcoin thesis "keeps growing" the same week tradfi keeps rolling out new crypto products. adoption and price conviction aren't the same signal, and today's a clean reminder of that
@WatcherGuru A 25 bp hike would send a clear message that inflation remains sticky and the Fed is ready to act. The real question is whether this is a one-time adjustment or the beginning of a longer higher-rate period.
