He exchanged a throne for a cross, his crown for our curse. As CS Lewis once said, βThe Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.β #Christmas
Reflecting on the birth of Christ, floods our hearts with worship & gratitude. Humanity couldnβt ascend to God, so He descended to us. Pure grace & mercy. Unearned, unmerited, undeserved.
In sheer humility he stooped all the way down to us. Down from the glory of heaven, to the straw & dirt of a battle-scared earth. Exchanging immeasurable riches for lean poverty. Angelic praise & adoration for ridicule, pain & suffering.
The most wonderful truth of #Christmas π βBut when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.β [Gal 4:4-5]
"Truly my soul finds REST in God ALONE" [Psalm 62:1]. Over the years, I've looked to some pretty ordinary sources of rest, that turned out to be no rest at all. Yet thereβs nothing like the soul rest we find in God alone. The ancient practices of prayer, Scripture & meditation.
God is the One who speaks into the chaos & darkness of our world, whispering it into NEW LIFE! βHe calls into existence the things that do not exist.β [Rom.4:17]. May Godβs Word bring a garden of Eden out of your life in 2021. Happy New YEAR!!
βGod, unseen until now, is revealed in the Voice, Godβs only Son,Β straight fromΒ the Fatherβs heartβ John 1:18. Christmas, the Voice of the silent God, breaking-in to a weary world. A baby screaming out in the middle of the night for a feed. God with us. Incognito.
