@Kidar182@TheRealKeean Turns out Lainey Wilson was out as well, recovering from a tour bus accident. Why can’t the promoters just be honest, our right, playing the distraction game.
@Kidar182@TheRealKeean Additionally, Country Thunder can try and blame the city. But the facts (for anyone with half a brain), are pretty clear. Their move from Aug to June has been a failure, the music bylaw doesn’t affect them, and their main headliner is pulling out due to a serious concussion.
@TheRealKeean Keean, you don’t sit at a board table—I do. Calgary and Edmonton aren’t killing investment; the spectre of separation is. Many companies are cutting CapEx in Alberta.
We operate in 17 states/provinces, and Alberta is the only place we’ve reduced spend for 26/27.
@LiveFreeHoney Don’t have an agenda,
- saving face
- potential legal action from vendors and acts
- let’s see how fast they refund the $350 per ticket
…. Sure, no agenda.
@huntingzero@JezzeG@yegwave - The majority of the construction has been planned and on the go for a number of years.
- The water main construction started in January, and all of a sudden it’s an issue 2 days before the event, so you actually buy that?
If you do, I have a bridge to sell you.
@huntingzero@JezzeG@yegwave Here are actual facts,
- switched from August to June in 2025, attendance has been lower.
- The noise bylaw does not affect it
- Their main headliner received a serious concussion on the weekend and is cancelling shows
- They met with the city this am, and had no concerns.
@kliivam@WSOnlineNews@Dfildebrandt The Stampede prefers to be where they are, Cowboys and Country Thunder has f$&k all to do with the Stampede. What you’re proposing, is a temu stampede, why don’t they have a demolition derby as well? Nothing against demolition derbies, I enjoy them, just not at the Stampede
@huntingzero@yegwave You’re right, but when they met with city officials this morning, all was good. Seems like they are distracting from the real issues.
@yegwave Nothing like learning from Dani and the crew. Create a great distraction so people focus on the wrong story and assume the event was cancelled for a completely different reason… other than low ticket sales and forecasted rain all weekend.
@yegwave You forgot to mention the part where City of Calgary officials met with the organizers this morning to which they were told there were no issues… also the noise bylaw doesn’t affect this concert. So instead of poor ticket sales and, rain all weekend, let’s blame the city.
@Clayton2theBell@AdamMacVicar What seems more likely, is that the organizers were expecting more tickets to be sold, its public knowledge that ticket sales were low. Clearly the decision makers sat down this afternoon, and said “sh!t, we have a problem, let’s blame the city”.
@Clayton2theBell@AdamMacVicar I didn’t question your ability to read.
When you read the statement from the first word. A multitude of City staff met with organizers this morning, to which they were told there were no issues. It appears that when they brought up the noise bylaw, again no comment = no problems
