The ballsiest coaches at this World Cup will see it as two tournaments. The group stage is barely more than a warm up event now. The real World Cup’s a straight 32 team knockout. Rotate early, be fresh for the real tournament but perhaps jeopardise your chance of an easier route?
I have it on good authority that the South Shields manager Ian Watson has been offered and accepted the Head Coach job at #WalsallFC. Should be announced at some point next week. He likes play 442 as his preferred formation. Looking forward to see what he can do for us. UTS
@Vital_Walsall There’s no evidence that experienced managers won’t work under a HoF or similar. Alexander, Warne, Harris, Duff, Bowyer and McCann are all working under that exact structure right now.
Personally I’d still prefer an up and coming non-league manager like a Garrard or a Watson.
@Ali_Mac90 I assume Mairs will be the connection between the Head Coach and the board.
The HoR will do all the research/scouting and give players' names to Mairs and the Head Coach for the final decision. The former is unlikely to veto any new signings.
Must be a fairly common structure.
@tommymarlow Ha. I was actually in two minds for the first time in a long time. I’ve probably missed more home games this season than in the previous ten.
It’s £452. It’s a hard sell to the family that I’m getting value for the money.
I go because I’ve always gone; not because I want to.
Heaviest home defeat since that bizarre Fleetwood 6-2 loss towards the start of last season.
Cheltenham blew #Saddlers away in the second half - a side who’ve only won four times away all season.
