The Holy Spirit is not just a feeling.
A lot of people think the Holy Spirit is only there when the music is emotional or when they “feel something” in church.
But the Holy Spirit is more than emotions.
He teaches you.
Convicts you when you’re wrong.
Guides you.
Comforts you.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit is working in the quiet moments too.
Like when you suddenly feel convicted about something you used to be comfortable doing.
Or when you have peace in a difficult moment.
Or when your character slowly starts changing.
The Holy Spirit doesn’t only produce moments.
He produces fruit.
Love.
Patience.
Kindness.
Self-control.
Christianity is not just about emotional experiences once in a while.
It’s about walking with God daily through the Holy Spirit.
Atheism is easiest when life is comfortable and within your control. But I’ve personally witnessed several times when people face things like a long prison sentences, terminal illness, violence or death.. something interesting happens.
Those who once claimed certainty suddenly begin praying, asking for mercy and hoping for something beyond themselves.
Because when you’re confronted with forces you can’t control, rebellion tends to fade, and humility tends to appear.
I remember when Tim Tebow was at Florida preaching about virginity...no one thought he would be able to sustain his purity image.
Here we are 20 years later...through 20 years of social media. 20 years of it being incredibly difficult to hide anything. And Tim Tebow is still crystal clean. This dude actually practices what he preaches. Very rare...
Tim Tebow should be celebrated
I am receiving death threats for preaching Jesus Christ. But I will not live in fear. God is with me, and He is my protector. No threat can silence the truth. No fear can overcome faith. I will keep speaking the name of Jesus Christ.
Atheists: "I don't believe in God, I believe in science!"
"That's like saying there is no creator to my car because I can explain how my car works. Science is only the study of what God has created. You believe in science, so did fathers of science. They were Christians."
God doesn’t want to transform your behavior.
He wants to transform your heart.
When you focus only on behavior modification (lawkeeping)
You actually increase your temptation to sin.
Why?
Because your focus is on not sinning. This means you’re thinking about sin more and thus increasing temptation.
So what’s the answer?
Think about Jesus.
Think about what He did for you.
Study His word.
Think about what’s good about other people.
Train your brain to focus on God and what is good.
This fundamentally changes you and the way you think.
“Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you”- Matthew 6:33
