To the family, loved ones, & the entire Durham Region PS membership, we offer our unwavering support as you mourn this profound loss.
So sad to learn of the deaths of 3 Canadian police officers in less than a week. It’s a tragic reminder of the traumas and stressors faced by police and other emergency responders. Despite the many supportive programs available to them, way too many still fear the stigma of utilizing them. We need to change that! 🙏💙
Our heartfelt condolences are with the family, loved ones and colleagues of the three police officers who served with Hamilton Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
May they each be remembered for their honourable dedication to their community.

3 police officers have died by suicide in 3 days.
Suicide is difficult to talk about. In policing, where stigma can still be a powerful barrier, that conversation can be even harder.
Our policing community continues to grieve the deaths of these members and our thoughts remain with their families, friends and colleagues.

The membership of the OPPA send best wishes to the Toronto Police officer who was shot in Toronto today. Thankfully their injuries are not life threatening, and the officer is in stable condition in hospital.
Once again a violent repeat offender is the accused shooter. The random violence towards police officers is very concerning. We stand with our Toronto Police Association colleagues in strongly condemning this violence.
We urge all our our members to be extra vigilant of their surroundings at all times, and to prioritize officer safety.
