Sure! The reason is pretty simple. Authenticity.
The red sunset has always existed in Darkshore, as you can see in this screenshot from Classic.
Darkshore also has a fairly thick fog (for Vanilla, at least) so I wanted to play that up and push it further. Which also conveniently turns Teldrassil into a cool silhouette far off in the mist.
I thought it would be really interesting to have a constant marine layer off the coast and when combined with Darkshore’s red sunset it gave the zone a very unique look.
Honestly, back in the day I never would’ve considered Darkshore to stand among my favorite looking zones.. I now have much more appreciation for it!
@TeeHallums It’s nice to see the GI getting some love! It is one of our more subtle improvements in Forever but I think it does so much to ground players in a more believable environment.
We did our best to showcase it during our Blizzcon panel. Hopefully players feel the difference 😀
@milkynecro Thanks! Glad you’re liking what you’ve seen so far! Our engineering team really killed it with these updates. It’s been an amazing experience collaborating with them on all the new tech you’ve seen in Forever.
@Gymson64@AggrendWoW Oh it’s there :)
The Blue Child doesn’t follow the same daily cycle as the White Lady but keep on the lookout and you’ll see it soon!
